Nick/Nadia Bluma
Good morning all and blessings from a sunny South Africa :-)

Our petitions were approved on 11 March, forwarded to the NVC, left NVC and received by the US Consulate today, 28 March. I have started preparing documentation for submission and interview, but I have a few questions in this regard:
  1. What information is requested in Packet 3? We would like to make sure that we have all documentation and if not, get that which we do not have;
  2. The evidence we have of the bona fides of our marriage and our relationship, is this sufficient? We have the following:
  • Proof of visits to South Africa - passport pages - his;
  • Letter from his work confirming my registration as his spouse, benefits to which I am entitled, confirming medical and dental insurance for me;
  • Joint bank account in the US;
  • Welcome letter from bank to me;
  • Power of Attorney (I gave him power of attorney - there were things that needed to be done, bank account etc.);
  • Affidavits from family and friends regarding our relationship and marriage;
  • Phone records - 3 phones (2 mobile, 1 landline);
  • Thousands of pictures - he has been here 3 times, the last time January 2008;
  • Thousands of emails - I will be doing screenshots;
  • Affidavit from me confirming that 100% of my pension fund will be paid directly into our joint bank account;
  • Printout from the pensions system confirming that he is my beneficiary;
  • Receipts of holidays (plane tickets, hotels, ticket stubbs, car & bike rentals);
  • Receipts of packages sent to each other;
  • Emails between his family and me;
  • Emails between my family and him;
  • Proof of birthday gift from me to him delivered to our home;
  • Money transfers from my bank account to our joint account in the US;
  • Tax documentation - joint tax filing in the US;

What else could they possibly ask for? Is there anything else that I should know, take with me, be aware of? Any assistance and advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance and God bless
Nadia

Hi, Do you have an unabridged computer generated copy of your birth certificate? Also a police clearance will be required. I am in SA with my fiance and am working on getting these 2 things. The police clearance certificate can take about 28 working days and the birth certificate can take months. I have some hints for you if you don't have them yet...

Hello Heather,
Thank you very much for the response. I have both these documents. Unabridged Birth Certificate obtained in January 2008 and Police Clearance in November 2007 - the Police Clearance is only valid for 6 months, I reapplied just in case I require a more recent one, I expect to collect it on 15 April.

Thanks again,
Nadia
