Hello everybody!

my interview date at the American embassy in Moscow is May, 8th. Unfortunately i dont think i cant make it and be there on this particular day... is it possible to change the date and if it is, how should i do it? If i can't show up on the set date, does it mean i'll need to wait for several more months for the new one???

many thanks in advance

I dont know in Russia for sure but in Philippines it is possible to change your interview appointment date and all we need to do is to call the Embassy a week prior to the interview appointment date. To be safe for you, call the Embassy and ask.

In Montreal Canada you go back to the bottom of the list and are required to wait for a new interview.

Just send an email to the consulate, ConsulMo@state.gov. Ask if you can postpone your interview, and give them a date range you'd like to re-schedule it for. You won't go to the bottom of the pile but you might get pushed out further than you'd like.

I did it with no problem. They were very nice about it. I send a very kind request (along with a remark to watch out for the Kirk & Nadya file, something might be fishy there) via e-mail and they sent a new interview date. It was pain free!

Well of course I know that, but I simply can't pass up an opportunity to whack you on the head with a mallet! biggrin.gif

They have no problems pushing the interview dates back.

Your interview is around the Russian May Day holiday so canceling an interview then will probably mean a longer than usual time to reschedule...as the embassy will be closed for awhile I'm told.

It's always unfortunate to hear that someone has to pass on that all too elusive interview date, and make a VERY long process even longer.

Good luck.

Thanks, guy. I think i'll send an email to them...

To Seanconnery: i totally agree with u, but i've been out of Russia while waiting for the approval and now i have to get all the paper work done and translated ...to be honest i'm freaking out about the days...and what do u mean by "the embassy will be closed for a while"? a week? a month?

You could transfer to your new host country's embassy.

Not sure when they close but you can visit the embassy web site. They list what holidays they close.

Looking at the current online Embassy schedule it looks as if the "no-interview" dates for May (excluding weekends) are:

May 1
May 2
May 9
May 26
Kotenochek
when i had interview it was august 2007,changing date would make you at least 3 weeks later.I would do everything to be there in right time though.
the day of my interview 6 people did not show up for k1-k3 and they cancelled all applications..It scares...I would still go on sheduled day if there is a possibility..Or maybe better call them.
