Now that we seem to have a critical mass of August and September filers who have made it most the way through the system, I thought I'd start a thread for all of us to keep in touch and continue to use each other for friendship and support.

You don't have to be a Aug/Sep '07 filer to post of course, but it can't hurt. smile.gif

Have fun all, and welcome to the next step!

Well I guess you can string it between 2 poposan chairs, but I don't think you're going to be happy when someone gets out of one of the chairs...

I read this, and I thought "there she is...my dream girl...we passed like ships in the night, me with my love of accordion music* and the entire "secret diaries" series, her with her accordion talent and the same love for all things "secret diaries," and knowing we could never be together. And had I been Elton John, and StP a hawt Russian border guard circa 1980, it would probably go something like this (with possibly more monobrow):

And then I read this...

I don't believe he's pretending to be a perv/peeping tom. I believe that part's whatchacall autobiographical.

your case is at this time in additional review .......it will not take that long to come to a decision once its made we will mail ur our decision........is this a denial?

your case is at this time in additional review .......it will not take that long to come to a decision once its made we will mail ur our decision........is this a denial?

Let's get this out of the way right now: This is not a denial.

It may not mean anything, or it could mean something. You're just going to have to wait and see. There are a certain number of petitions that are sent through an additional security process. These petitions are chosen at random. It's very possible that yours was randomly hit. On the other hand, it could be that your petition was flagged in name check, possibly because the beneficiary's name is similar to someone in their crime database, etc.

You might want to give USCIS a call and see if you can get any more information out of them. It's about 99% likely they won't tell you anything else, and to just wait. But who knows, they might tell you a little more. It's not the best news you could have gotten, but it is not a denial, and that's at least a good thing. Hang in there!

smile.gif Ok so i called and talked to a very nice lady.......she said yes ur case is in additional review I said does that mean its still in extensive back ground investigation? she said she did not think so that it might only mean that a supervisor is reviewing it. I told her i was sorry for calling and taking her time she said no problem and not to worry it wont take long now for a decision
mox
Cool. I know it can be unsettling, but try not to worry. Let the review run its course. It most likely won't take very long. good.gif

HELP!!!!! My fiancee went to the German Embassy to pick up her police clearance and found that they had spelled her name wrong!!!!!!!!! So she had to have the embassy send her police clearance back to get it fixed!!!! The lady at the embassy said that it should not take more then a month!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone know if and how this will effect the process? How long does it take from when she finally has all the paper work, including the police certificate, and lets the embassy know til she gets her interview date? I guess we shouldnt be too concerned since this is the first snag we have hit in this process, but it is still frustrating

This might be a better question to ask in the Consulate forum, or the Europe forum, or you can look at timelines for people going through your country and compare the dates. If she doesn't have the police clearances by the time of the interview, she just needs to submit them after the interview. It'll be no big deal, she can even mail them.

Thanks for setting this up Mox!

I am so close to that visa I can taste it! I went to the embassy yesterday with my "Single Status Certificate"s from Costa Rica (original) and Australia (a scanned colour copy - DHL screwed up big time and sent the package with the hard earned original back to my parents in Australia after a week in transit....don't ask mad.gif ). They took them both, of course only to come back and demand the original of the Australia one...I could've burst into tears right there - I was so close! Damn (and other horrible words ranting33va.gif) DHL!

So my Dad resent it (TNT whis time) and I should have it Wednesday next week. Which means I can't go to the embassy till Friday (you can only go Mon/Wed/Fri for Resident Visas which they see K1 as...), so best case scenario sees me with visa in hand by Mon 7th April. UGH!

I really like EJ, but his videos have always been spectacularly bad. Witness:

To be fair, this was done in '76, so not a video per se. But still very, very bad. I mean...*I* could have produced and directed this piece. "Okay Elton, you walk in dragging Kiki by the arm and start singing. Ima go have lunch."

what is a 'Single Status Certificate', and who requires them?

Philippines requires a CENOMAR which is a certificate of no marriage. I'm guess the Single Status Certificate is along the same lines.
StillThePrettiest
thanks, I guessed that too, but I was just wanting more details because the poster said he got one from Australia, and I'm Australian and didn't have to submit this, so I assume it's a requirement specific to certain embassies, and I was interested in knowing which ones smile.gif

We picked up the Visa today and will be returning the U.S. together and will post all the fun stuff of the transition. The wedding will be in San Jose, CA on Friday April 18. Can't wait to hit the AOS thread. I haven't even looked to see what we have to do there. I'm guessing more waiting. Atleast we will not be thosands of miles apart for this part of the waiting game.

Well, I've been absent for a few days, and missed the beginning of a new forum. Dang!

Okay, so, I'm one of those August filers. As most of you probably already know, we've received our visa and arrived back to US on March 5th. We were married on March 13th and are now getting the next set of docs together for the AOS.

We are now also getting ready for the birth of our baby, due in just over a month. It's been a lot of work and also a lot of fun getting everything arranged, getting my wife on my insurance plan, with the doctors, getting everyting set up at home, etc...

Darren&Laura
Hi everyone,

Ive been back in Wyoming with my fiance for a couple of weeks now after entering on my K1 visa, and it's great to be home with my wife to be and our babies. I couldn't believe how much the babies had changed in the month I had to return to the UK for my medical and interview and also play the waiting game. I was gutted to have to leave, but I'd been in the USA for 90 days so had no other option. The babies are now laughing and being playful and are so much more aware of their surroundings than when I had to leave.. they are the most gorgeous, sweet things, and I'm really happy to be a stay home dad for the time being. Laura has now returned to work this week after her maternity leave, but I intend to live off my savings for at least a year or so to spend the time with my kids and find my feet in the USA. Plus Laura can't give up work to look after the girls as we need her medical insurance for the babies - the bills so far have surpassed $90,000 since their birth in December, which would have been obscene if Laura wasn't insured.

It's fantastic to wake up every day knowing I will never have to leave again, (even if it is to a screaming baby wanting to be fed/changed/some attention, etc.), and we also set a date yesterday for the wedding - June 4th. Everything is starting to move fast again now - we've are also in the process of asking Laura's brothers and their wives to be god parents to one of our twin girls each.

My mother has confirmed she will come to the wedding today, (I gave her a cheque to cover any flights and spending money she'd need before I left as a thankyou for letting me stay with her while I was back in the UK as I sold my house while in the USA around Christmas), but it's great for her to confirm she can make the date, it means I will actually have at least one person from my side of the family at the wedding!

I've just come on VJ tonight to find out what i need to do to apply for a SSN and have printed off the relevant stuff I need - I hope to get this done Friday when Laura will be home and able to look after the girls so I can drive down to the local SS office. Once again VJ has proven invaluable in steering me in the right direction.

All the best to all the August and September filers that have recently arrived in the USA, or will shortly be doing so, this is a great thread to continue keeping in touch.
Darren.
