kicking.gif Good news, all! We've got our interview date - Tuesday, May 6 at 8 am! ***Giddy*** Thank you all for your words of encouragement and hope everyone finds this light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel soon!!!

Fellow VJ'ers, I have to bother you with some more questions! This has already been asked, but again, I can't seem to find it through my searches.

1) Can you do the medical exam well before the interview? Is it just the appointment letter you need to bring to the approved doctor?

2) A little question about logistics... As for POE's: If we're approved, I would like to book a flight straight from Toronto YYZ to Sacramento, CA. I have an 8 month-old baby and it would be ideal to fly straight into Sac. My question is: do we have to enter from a land border as a POE to cross into US (from Buffalo, Windsor or Kingston)? Is that a requirement or will they take care of it all at Pearson/Sacramento airports? Sounds silly, but humor me! (because I've read stories on VJ of people driving for 6 hours to get to the US border, but did they HAVE to do that or did they just WANT to???) Anyways...

Take care of yourselves and God bless!!

Ciao. good.gif

congrats!

You have to do the medical before the interview (or should) because they will not give the visa before it (this is for you right?)

From my understanding you can enter wherever you want.. smile.gif

Pearson can be your POE. I've read other reviews here regarding Pearson that say to give yourself about 2 hours extra for the processing, but some people have gotten thru much quicker.

I'm surprised to hear that there is a direct YYZ-SACtown flight. good.gif

Congrats!!

Hello, and thanks for the input guys!

Eric_and_Corinna, you may be right (I will check that out now). It would be nice to fly directly into Sacto since we have a baby in tow... One stop-over isn't so bad either.

Also, your story sounds almost exactly like mine! I got turned away at the Buffalo border after visiting family in Canada! And I recently had a little boy in T.O., had to apply for consular report of birth abroad, etc... whew!! smile.gif Congratulations on the new addition and good luck with your application smile.gif

Ciao.

Good news - we sent out packet 3 back a month ahead of you. That would put us in June hopefully for an interview. Which is good. I'd love a July interview date.

Much Luck!

Quick question for those who entered the USA already:

I have two sealed envelopes of my medical. One has the X-ray attached, one doesn't. Which one do I bring/show to the interviewing officer at the interview? Which one do I show the immigration officer at the POE?

Thank you!
flames9
the POe guys dont care about the XRay(neither will the consulate). The other envelope you got at ur medical is given away at ur interview! Dont open it up!! As well you should get another envelope at the interview. Again don't open it up. You will give that envelope to the POE guy!!

yay! congrats!!

My case was completed on March 26th, just two weeks after yours. . . this gives me hope for a May interview (hope I had long abandoned)

Congratulations on the interview. As others have said, you can fly directly from Canada to California - your POE will be at the airport prior to boarding the plane. The reasons some have driven a number of hours to a land border is often because they want to obtain an employment stamp when they enter the US and some land POEs still issue it, but none of the airport POE's do.
