No change here since it was last touched

For anyone who has had a recent INFOPASS appointment in the Atlanta office, what were you allowed to bring in with you? Were women allowed to bring purses or not? My appointment is tomorrow at noon so I want to be prepared. Any recent information would be welcome.

I took my purse inside and had to remove my jewelry, hubby had to remove belt and jewelry. They put them thru x-ray machine and you got them back after you went thru the gate. They wanted info pass letter, passport, greencard, social security card and husband's driver license. Good luck.

Its pretty much as MaryandMian said. Security is pretty much like airport security, empty pockets, remove belt and watch. Make sure that if someone is coming with you that they have ID ie GA license, otherwise they won't let them in. I was asked for Infopass appointment letter, passort and GC, I wasn't asked for SS card. We didn't take our mobile with us just in case that we had to be turned back.

Ok - got my I-551 stamp, and you are right, it was 'easy peasy':-).

Arrived in plenty of time so waited in the car reading until it was 15 minutes prior to my appointment. Just put my purse, my belt ,my watch and my folder in the container to go through the x-ray scanner, went through the metal detector, picked up my belongings and headed inside with barely a break in stride:-). Got letter A96 at the counter and sat down to wait. They were at A89. Ten minutes later my number was called. The woman asked me why I was there and I explained I had filed my I-751 back in February and had never received an NOA extension letter. She asked if I had an unexpired passport and my greencard with me. I said, yes, and she said, 'well then, we can do something to help you out today". She took the passport, looked up information on her computer from my greencard, stamped my passport, wrote all sorts of numbers on it (hehehe) and handed both back to me saying I was good to go. I was out of there before the time of my actual 12 noon appointment:-). Friendly staff, no hassle and in fact, easier than at the ASC for the biometrics.

I didn't bring my cell phone in but there was a girl talking on hers in the restroom so they don't confiscate them obviously. I also noticed the sign that said 'no food or cell phone use in waiting area' was on the next column over from the door to the vending machines:-). Plenty of parking, too, btw - and a number of other people sitting around waiting in cars either until their appointment times or until someone inside was finished.

My online case status was not touched either when I checked it after getting home.

Just an observation . . .
The numbers on the I-551 are my A#, the original case number written on the back of the cheque, the date the conditional green card expires, today's date as date of issue and the expiry date as one year from today - plus, the notation that I-751 filed TSC 03/03/08. That was the date my application was officially delivered by USPS and TSC signed for it. The cheque wasn't cashed until 7 days later and the online status 'receipt date' was March 11 - which is also the date the IO who gave me my biometrics number on the Call line said was the date the file was received. I find it interesting that the delivery date is the one they wrote on my I-551 - and she obviously got it off of her screen because she didn't ask to see the copy of the canceled cheque or anything else.

Just a quick update here.

C had his biometrics today. Nothing new there really other than the security guard kept calling him Canadian.. lol

Anyway, that's done with and now we sit and wait. We've not gotten any word that we've been shipped off to VSC yet either.

hehehe, there could be worse fates than being thought a Canadian!

Check your online status either later on tonight or tomorrow and you will probably see two things - a notice that effective such and such a date your file was transferred to Vermont, and then a touch or two the next few days. The notice may already read that the file has been received at the office to which it was transferred when it updates.

I'm in the same boat

How long after biometrics before there is a touch? Our bio was last week but still not touch. Is this what everyone else is experiencing?

For those one's that actually got a bio, it seems to vary. Some had a touch the next day, some a week or 2 later.

I wanted to add that while we were in Charleston getting the I551 stamp in my husband's passport I chatted with the officer (sorry, can't help taking advantage of an opportunity to get info in an informal setting) about not getting the NOA. When we told him what we were there for he said he's seeing a lot of that right now. I told him that there was a website where I go to compare our timeline with other peoples (didn't say the name of it) and that there were about 30 other people on there who hadn't gotten the letter from TSC either. He asked if I had any idea why not. I told him that someone said they had called and been told that there was a computer glitch that was saying the letters had been mailed when they hadn't. He said that was funny because he didn't see in his system that our letter had ever been mailed.

I wish the Charleston office could process all of our application. They have always been very efficient and friendly when we were in there. Oh well, maybe Vermont will get some new people and get them trained soon so they can move faster.

When we got back from biometrics we had an email stating Keith had been transferred to Vermont. We were also touched that day stating the same thing - that he had been transferred. Then we were also touched the next day for no apparent reason.

I have scheduled a biometrics appointment on May 22 and I’m wonder if I will be able to get I-551 stamp in my passport in the same time. If it possible to ask for stamp person witch will do biometrics or I should do info pass appointment for it. My GC will expire in middle of July but who wont to do trip twice.J

It depends, here in Atlanta the place where we get biometrics done is in a completely different place to where I had my infopass appointment. Some places have both the biometrics and infopass appointments in the same building. I guessing that you will have to make two trips or try and make the infopass appointment to coinside with the biometris appointment.

I thought I would add myself to this thread, just starting out the I-751 process. I filed the I-751 package on 05/17/2008. Since I'm new, I'm not quite sure how to add myself to the formal list, but feel free to do so.

Also, is it still the case that no-one is receiving a NOA from TSC? Are cases staying there or transferred to VSC? Just curious.

Just thought I'd hop in and say we're still here and still nothing happening except the cobwebs starting to cover now haha.

C's biometrics were on 05/07 and we've not been touched or transferred or even sneezed at as far as we know.

Hope someone hears something soon.

Question though - if we get too near to his GC expiration date, do we need to go do something so he can keep working without any interruption.. a stamp or something? I read it all before but my brain is so fried lately I can't remember anything.

I see from the list that you didn't recieve the NOA1 extending C's GC. So therefore you will need to make an infopass appointment and get C's passport stamped. This will be vaild for 1 yr and will be vaild for working, and travelling. C's work may want to see documentation that C's GC has been extended, it depends whether they keep up with that sort of thing.

As Richard says, TSC is not sending out the NOA extension letters and it looks like most of us have been notified that our files have been transferred to VSC. Definitely make INFOPASS appointments, bring your current green cards and your unexpired passports and USCIS will put the I-551 stamp in your passport extending your status for a year. They are getting very used to doing this!

Time to get in touch with the embassy.

Anyone have any idea how long it takes to process a renewed passport thru the british embassy?

Ok I have been to the British embassy website, see link( http://www.britainusa.com/sections/index_n...2=41001&d=1 ) They say it takes about 10 days if it a straight foward application. I think that you can renew it faster than that if it is emergency I could'nt find details. It is pretty costly at $250.00 plus $15.00 for shipping. You will need to send original docs.

Absolutely - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to any of this.

You'd think that a first in first out sort of process would not only speed things up but make everyone else actually have a little faith in the system.

To my surprise we were touched on Monday, May 19th. I haven't read this thread in a couple days and when I did this morning I decided just to swing by the good ole' USCIS site and to my surprise we were touched.

Cool! I keep checking and no touches but it is great to know that someone is:-).

Not a single touch for us since they posted we were being transferred to vermont (still no indication it was received at vermont though)

The only touch we've had since we were transferred was in my dream last night. Too bad when I checked the website both times so far today there were still no touches.

Did someone mention that a touch shows when your file gets received by VSC? ours got transferred April 15th but the only touch we've had is the 16th showing that. Bio still isn't showing either.

We had a really fast approval for the 2 year card, as well as a really fast approval for the K1, so I guess it's our turn to wait one out.

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted, but been busy, been gone for a while, & one thing after another has happened......But anyway...

We went to our Infopass appointment & got the stamp in his pasport without a problem. B-U-T we asked for the number that that would allow us to track our case online. She called out the number that was already on the back of the canceled check & I told her that is not the right number that it would not work online & that we needed the number for the biometrics. She punched around on her keyboard & said "I'll write the number down for you. We thanked her & Dan picked it up & stuck it inside his passport. When we got home & got the number out it was still the same number on the back of the canceled check. And of course it doesn't work online.

Dan called them a week or so later & asked for the number & got a different number, but it doesn't work online either!!! But the lady he talked to did say that we had been transfered to Vermont. She didn't say when & Dan didn't think to ask. She said that he should be getting his biometric appointment in the mail in two to three weeks & if we have not received it by then to call back.

Day before yesterday, Dan, called again to see if he could get any info about his biometric appointment & about getting the biometric number & was told that they didn't have a number other than the one that was on the back of the check & that our case IS STILL IN TEXAS. She had a bit of an attitude too.

We still have not received biometric appointment & don't know anything about our case. Don't know why the new number doesn't work online. I guess we just have to wait & see what happens.

I got some more info. I called again and verified that. There is no biometrics date on mine. The only thing he told me is that the case was transferee to Vermont on march something and received aknowledged that it was there on mid April (hence the last touch) he did say that we should be getting transfer notices within 30 days of transfer. So. We will see.

I just noticed that the check has been cashed. I haven't tried the number on the back yet, but from what I heard it doesn't work anyway.
There is a number starting with SRC, and then below it another number, and then below that another number between 2 inward-pointing arrows. What are all these numbers? Just curious.

When you get an SRC number, do you still get transferred to VSC?

Yes, your case number will be SRC but the file will be in Vermont. Texas isn't doing I-751s anymore - just accepting them.

Well, seeing the time lines of everybody who filed after us makes me almost depressed ... it seems that almost everybody who filed after February 2008 already received their Biometrics, while most of the February filers are still waiting for it. Does someone here have any idea why that is? My online status said that my case haven't been touched since 03/18/2008, which is the day I got transferred to VSC. Not even after I had my Infopass appointment on 04/25/2008! Sorry, just needed to vent a little bit about my frustration.

Peter, Marcel and the others from February that have not gotten biometrics I have been actively trying to find out what the problem is. I have contacted two congressial aides from my district and one told me to wait until August and if we did not have anything by then to contact their office once again. I signed information release today for the other congressional office.

Peter called USCIS and was told the same thing I was told about Mian's file that we are at Vermont and that no Bio appointment date had not been set. They told me to go to INFOPASS if we needed the stamp but we did that on April 30th. I am still working on it and if I find out anything that will help any one of US that are stuck I will gladly share the information.

Personally from the data from VJ and two other sites that I am active with it appears that the few files that were transferred were sent and no transfer notices were set to go out from TSC/VSC and that the files were moved and maybe not completely entered in the system to trigger them to issued BIOS. Only a select few of us got this treatment and I even researched to see if we were all K1 or CR cases and it appears we are all a mixed lot.

Also, VSC is sending multiple BIOS out now to a few select and from my research even some of the older transfer cases are getting NOAs once again. Just make sure you have your 551 stamp to show proof that you are in legal staus now is my best advice since we have a limited or no paper trail.

We got our NOA1 today. It is dated May 13th! It came from TSC.
