Full Version: quick question about joint sponsor

Elvis
I am sorry, I read this 124 times, but when time came for filing the I-864 then I forgot everything

Question:
I file I-864( I know that)

Since I-864A is contract between me and joint sponsor ( my father) does he has to file also a I-864?
YuAndDan
I-864A is not used by a Joint Sponsor, it is used by a member of house hold to provide some support to a sponsor or joint sponsor.

If you are using your father as a Joint sponsor, he will use form I-864 NOT I-864A

An example of when an I-864A may be used. A prospective immigrant is in the USA on a K-3 and has EAD and a JOB, the prospective immigrant can provide for I-864A as a member of the household, and include that income to help the US Citizen spouse make it to 125% povertyline, and US Citizen spouse will provide I-864

I am sorry bothering you, but even if I live with my father he still needs to fill out only I-864 as only joint sponsor?
I am sorry, but we all want to make right first time , not loose any valuable time for RFE's
that is why I want to be 100% sure

You are a member of his household but he is NOT a member of your household.

He should do I-864 as a Joint sponsor.
Elvis
I got it now
thank you
