I had my interview last week in Frankfurt-Germany and was able to submit the I-601 and I-212.The officer has told us , the waiting time will be 6-8 weeks. My husband is not feeling very good, he has a heart disease. And he is in pain. I wonder if it would help to involve the senator to speed up the procedure. Or would it take the same amount of time before he is reacting. Maybe somebody here can help. Thanks to all.

Six to eight weeks is really a short time for processing these waivers. Basically, anything you do with a Senator could possibly take that long anyway. The guideline for expedites is usually hardship (close to life or death) to the USC. It is usually advised that you not do this unless it is extremely emergent because they have to take you out of line to determine if it is deserving of an expedite (which takes time) and then if they say no, it has wasted time they could have spent on waivers ahead of you who have been waiting longer than you have.

If it is not that extreme of an emergency, count yourself lucky, ahead of those of us told to wait 6-18 months for the same paperwork.

Good luck either way :-)

It does seem like 6-8 weeks is an optimistic time frame, especially for the I-601. We have been waiting over 8 weeks for a "simple" name check and there are others in this forum who have been waiting longer for their 601 waivers.

Good luck and I hope your husband's health returns.

I've contacted my senator three different times and the last response I received from him is basically not to contact them for at least three months. My husband received a 212 and we've been on Administrative Processing since November 2006. In that letter, I wrote our hardship and it did no good. Chin up - you may have to go there for a visit to make the waiting a bit easier.

Thanks to all of you for your advice....
You are right I should wait...was reading here, that the chances for an approval is higher if you involve the congress woman.
Good luck to all of you
