If you wanna take the chance just to save 650php, then that's on you. Don't come crying on here if you don't pay and something happens.

To answer your question, yes you have to pay. It seems that a few have slipped through the red tape and didn't, but I would not recomend for anyone else. This is the cheapest fee in the process.

Good luck at the interview.

To pay ahead of time is a personal decision. Several of us payed in advance to avoid delays, but were delayed anyway. If you do pay ahead of time call Delbros to make sure they forward the payment to the USEM. The information for doc verification is on the USEM website. The instructions in packet IV are old as it still tells you the bank will stamp the wrong DS form for the Visa fee.

So far, the USEM seems to pick petitioners at random to verify documents.

well did you your friend have her interview set before doc. ver went into effect. then that would explain why they didnt have to pay. if you want to take the chance and let us all know how it all works out for you. thanks

Document verification seem to be a random selection of the embassy (just my 1 cent) however, I did pay mine a month before my interview and was not isntructed to go to delbros counter after my interview and was even approved of a visa pick up. Got my visa 3 days after. A friend of mine did not pay hers despite of my suggestion to pay in advance and waited for the consul's instruction to save the 650 pesos on that random selection. Until now the visa hasn't come yet and everytime she follows up, its always "still processing" response. So, bottomline is, you have the call on whether to pay it in advance or not. The consequences might be a delay of your visa...Hope it helps
