Hi everyone,

I was just curious. In some of the other forums they were talking about the vacinations needed before getting a visa (the ones you usually get at your medical). And they mentioned one that definitely wasn't required when I got mine last year. It's the Gardasil HPV vacination. Which done the right way takes up to 1 year to complete. I can't see no reason why they would require you to have that one since you can't pass on cervical cancer (the other vacines they require you to get are for deseases you can pass on to others). So has anyone in here had their medical lately? Or does anyone know for a fact that it has been added to the list?

Yes ALL immigrant visas require vaccinations started but not complete before getting the visa.

Typically for most it is:
  • Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR)
  • Tetanus and diptheria toxoids
  • Varicella (AKA Chicken Pox)

Yeah I know you need vaccinations. My question was has the HPV vaccination been added to the list for all countries?
TinTin and Samby
Yes HPV was added to the list this year of required vaccinations for beneificary women through age 26. It is not the cervical cancer risk that is passed on, it is the HPV virus itself. Needless to say, this addition has been highly controversial. Do some searches and you will find lots of polarizing views.

Warm Regards,

You're referring to my post I believe........here is the e-mail from the embassy in Bangkok:

Dear Mr. Ting Tong Farang:

No, the shot for cervical cancer is not required for immigration purpose.

Greetings,

My fiancée is at Bumrungrad Hospital for her physical right now.

They are telling her that she needs the shot for cervical cancer since she is under 26 years old and it will cost 12,000 baht. Is this true? Nowhere on the paperwork for her medical and on the embassy web site it states that this shot is required?

I need clarification on this before I pay 12,000 baht for a shot that not even required here in the states.

Best Regards,

Ting Tong Farang

The Dr made her get it, basically he told her he would not pass her in regards to the physical..........more like extortion to me.

I have passed on what expired at the Hospital to the Embassy, State Department and the hospital administration. Maybe something will happen.
