YEAH!!! we got packet 4....
only question is they assigned a 1:00 time for the interview (April 8)
In the past I have read where people were told to get there early as possible(by other past VJ'rs) so you could get you visa
the same day.....will those who have had interviews or those that will be having interview soon let me know
what information you have about this. Were you given a specific time.....can you still go early....etc...
Thanks!!!!!!!

Charlene did you get Packet 4 in the mail or did they email you? I'm really hoping for an April 10th interview date! Also, at Vancouver I don't think that they issue the visa the same day. They will get them to you the next day. I'm pretty sure that getting there as early as possible is a Montreal thing.

When David and I went for his interview we got there 45 mins early and they let us go ahead and go inside to wait. I've read from others that this is not common and you should only show up 15 minutes early or they won't let you through, but we got lucky I guess

... His appointment was at 1pm also. I don't think they issue the visa same day no matter what, you get it the day after.

How long do we have to wait to get a Vancouver appointment? I email the consulate and they are really inconsitant about responding. I find if you ask a Case specific question they don't answer. I am just worried because my approval expirers May8/08. I sent mine in on March7/08, I hope I will get it soon! Maybe I am just being impaient.
TheATeam
Mar 23 2008, 07:22 PM
I would email them again. You should have gotten your Packet 4 by now. Where in Canada are you? If you faxed it back on the 7th of March, it's the 23rd now, that means 16 days ago. It doesn't usually take that long for the mail to come. Are you putting your case number in the subject line of your email? That might help. I faxed my Packet 3 back on the 13th, so I'm hoping for an email on Tuesday!
penn-kd
Mar 23 2008, 08:16 PM
Yep I always put my case # in the subject line. I find they respond better to faxes but it is the same deal. They only respond to questions about filling out paper not about case specific's. Is there a way on-line to track your application.
TheATeam
Mar 23 2008, 10:21 PM
Nope, no way to track online. Several people here have said that they emailed the consulate to get their interview date through the email so that they could make travel arrangements ASAP, and they've gotten responses. I'm going to keep trying I think, and so should you. Chances are they've sent Packet 4 already, maybe it got lost in the mail?

That's great to know. And I'm glad the interview is at 1 PM so I don't need to wake up early. I'm at my best when I wake up after 10 AM.
I think I'm going to drive in. Anyone know the rate in that building? I will probably leave my house at 12, stop at Timmy Ho's before going into the Consulate. You can bring coffee in there, right?
I'll allow myself 15 minutes to check in like David_n_Amber said. I'm just going to wear something without pockets and I won't bring my purse so I'll be as hassle-free as possible.
How long was the whole interview from the moment you walked into the building till the end? Just so I know what time to book my spa treatment afterward.
And if they tell me my visa will be ready the next day, they better not be playin an April Fool's joke on me!
MissStacey
Mar 24 2008, 02:51 AM
I don't think you are allowed to bring in coffee.
Just get there a few minutes before your Interview and you will be ushered right in (K visas get the VIP treatment) The security person who stands outside will look at your appointment letter and send you in. First you go through security right inside the doors and then you will be sent upstairs, where another security person will put you on the elevator. When you get upstairs there is another little security checkpoint and you will be sent to a little area where they do the K interviews.
When I went there were 3 of us for K interviews. I was a K3 and the other 2 women were K1. I was called up to one of the windows and a woman went through all my paperwork and put things in order. She told me to sit down and then did the same with the other women. Then a man called me up asked me a few questions, went though my paperwork, told me to sit and then called the next person. He kept alternating between us 3. It seemed to go very quickly. I ran into one problem when it came to my medical report. The doctors office screwed up and checked off that I had a class B medical condition. I was asked several times about wheat I suffered from- if I had a drug problem or mental illness, things like that. I kept saying no- the only problem I had was with my gallbladder which I had removed and the surgery date was written on my medical form. They finally got a hold of the Doctors office to confirm that I didn't have a Class B condition and they said the Doctors office will have to fix the error and fax it to them. At that time they issued Visas on the same day but I was asked if I could come the next day to pick up my Visa instead. My flight home wasn't until 6 pm the next day so that worked out fine for me.
If I remember correctly I don't think I was there more than 1 hour.
The pick up was quite quick as well- even though they hadn't gotten the paper faxed back from the Doctors office yet when I arrived. The woman seemed pretty pissed off at the Doctors office- I chatted with her for a bit and told her they were a horrible office to deal with. The fax came through a few minutes after and before I knew it she was handing me my Passport with my pretty visa sticker in it and I was off.

I thought if you had a morning interview you could pick up your visa in the afternoon as well. If anyone knows whether this is still the case, I would really like to know. We are still waiting on packet 3, but once we do get an interview date, we are planning to go to Vancouver Island for a few days after the interview, and we will need to know whether to stay in Vancouver an extra day to wait for the visa or not.

We haven't had a fight. We very rarely argue and when we do we're able to resolve it quickly. I'm hoping she's just overwhelmed and will come around. Does anyone know what happens if she cancels her interview? Can she reschedule at a later date? I really don't know what to do.

I too hope that she's just overwhelmed. I don't even have my interview date yet and I'm already overwhelmed! Moving to a new country is not something to be taken lightly I've learned!
I'm not sure what will happen if she cancels her interview. Hopefully you'd be able to reschedule. I'm thinking you probably would. Make sure though to get an extension on the NOA2 if this happens though. You wouldn't want that to expire.
I wish you both all the best.

Do you know how to get an extension? I'm lost right now. It's all I can do to not start bawling.

Mar 25 2008, 02:24 PM
I think that you need to actually email or fax Vancouver and tell them the situation. Do you know if she's already told them that she's cancelling the interview? I'm pretty sure you just have to explain and then ask them for an extension on the NOA2 and while you're at it, requesting an interview date a month down the road wouldn't be a bad thing, as a just in case.
It's too bad they're not too great at responding to emails, and that they don't take phone calls. Although, I would try to call them since it is regarding an actual visa interview appointment.
Good luck, stay strong, let us know how it goes! You can do this!
SonoranSongbird
Mar 25 2008, 03:09 PM
Yeah, I would try calling Vancouver, too. The interview is in two days and they aren't going to open your email before then, but you could try emailing too. Maybe talk to Lindsay first---do you know what if anything she told them? I know there are people here who have had to reschedule interviews, and I don't think rescheduling, in and of itself, is all that difficult with Vancouver. It's just that if she tells them she needs to cancel the interview because the wedding is off, you may not be able to just pick up where you left off when she's ready to go ahead with it.
This probably is not the first time this has happened, either.

Yeah tell me about it. I'm waiting too! I wonder if they actually got my checklist when I faxed it. It makes me a little nervous. I emailed them on the 14th to make sure, and then again yesterday and they still haven't replied. I emailed them at one point and they responded the same day, and now no response for almost two weeks. I'm not sure what's going on with them, but it's a little bit frustrating. At least, if it consistently took 2 weeks everytime, we'd know and it wouldn't be so bad.

Did you put your case number in the subject line? What kind of q are you trying to ask them? Not being nosy, but I wonder if maybe they would rather ignore specific questions than to tell you they can't give you that info? It is quite odd though because twice I've emailed them and twice they returned my emails. In my emails I introduced myself as the beneficiary, had my case number in the subject line, and kept my emails short, error-free, and polite.

I asked for my interview to be April 10th. Maybe I was too specific. I don't have my medical booked yet as I'm getting it done the day before the interview in Vancouver, since there isn't a doctor here in Edmonton anymore.
That's the reason I'm a little worried about when my appointment will be. I need to make travel arrangements, hotel reservations, a medical appointment etc!

That is great they are so accommodating with the medicals. I guess the drawback to that situation is they will have to mail you the visa after the medical results are in. Will the Doctor's office send the results directly to the Consulate?
