Ok,

I've sent my package back on Feb 20th and they got our package on the 25th. Since then we haven't heard anything. I've made the huge mistake of sending a USPS Money order ( What? What do you mean no tracking? how do i know its cashed) So, Anyway, I've sent hte package and i heard nothing. The thing that worries me is that my card expires at the end of this month. I'm getting a little anxious because not sure what to do at this point. I am going to go to the USPS and fill out the wonderful "tracking" and pay the 5$ to track my money order to see if it was cashed ( This is a joke. how can you NOT tell me its been cashed - last time i use that money order ).

Any other suggestions other then hold tight?1

If you have tracking on the packet and you know it has been recieved then it is just a case of waiting to hear from them.... soeey to sday you are at the very begining of what can be a very long wait.... if you have not got a NOA1 or bio appointment within 2 months I would make an infopass to check what is going on....

Well I can talk in terms of myself and others also filing at TSC... if that will be any comfort.

Myself I mailed my package a little after you (My card also expires at the end of the month) and sent a personal check... I got a package receipt confirmation of delivery on March 5th and then the check was deposited on March 11th (coming out of my account on March 13th)

So if you have delivery confirmation then by now your check will have been deposited.

I've not heard anything from USCIS myself either... there was a reference number written on the back of the check but it's not a trackable reference number... so I just have to wait to hear about my biometrics appointment.

USCIS is so slow, and you get such little feedback during the early stages of filing, I really do reccomend using a personal check if that is possible, if only for your own sanity... it lets you know that they have at least opened your package and taken everything out to do something with it... and assigned it some kind of reference... at least then you know it's not sat around in a mail-room somewhere waiting like a time-bomb until your greencard expires... lol

I remember with the I-130 and I-485 it took them an entire month to cash my check... which was VERY painful lol I was sure my L visa was going to expire before they got me my EAD... but things worked out...

This time though at TSC they do seem to be at least taking the money quite quickly... albeit they are then taking forever to do anything else...

If only USCIS pricing was banded like delivery rates are.... with a 'budget' (much cheaper) option granting a guarantee of only a maximum of 18 months, but where you can pay more for express 6 month, or super-duper-fast 3 month processing... at least then people would feel like they got what they paid for lol

This is where its getting me a little worried.

I did send the package to USCIS , USCIS received it on the FEB 25th. I have sent in a USCIS Money order, which HAS not yet been cashed. I just went to the post office and tried to check. Its not received yet.

Sigh.

wondering if i should send another packaet. I really don't want ot be out of status.

that would suck.

It could simply be that the postal order doesnt show up in the USPS system yet.

And you won't be out of status... if you're really nervous make an infopass appointment - the officers there can lookup a case by A-Number, so they'd be able to tell you more.

Seriously, if you have proof it was received by them, and then later it turns out you need to re-file, the proof of delivery etc shows you tried to file on time.

Your status does not expire, only your Greencard.... your Status as a LPR can only be revoked by USCIS or an immigration court...

As said before if you really need to check what is going on then make an infopass appointment and get them to check.... Just be prepared to be told by them that you should have filed as soon as the 90 day window opened.. as this is what my friend was told when she was in the same situation as you... all they would tell her was her application had been recieved at the service center, she asked for a stamp in her passport to show she was legal and was told that they will only stamp a passport when the NOA1 extension has or is about to expire and that if she had wanted to have her extension letter before her greencard expired she should have filled sooner....

Good Luck

I can appreciate your concern. I mailed my package off on February 28th. It was confirmed receipt on March 3, and the cheque cashed on March 10. Since then there has been nothing. I think we are in for a long waiting game. Do try the infopass appointment to get the stamp in your passport. I do wish they would be more consistent in getting the NOAs out, especially as in this case the NOA acts as the extension of the green card for employment and travel purposes - and for Driver License renewals! Good luck in hearing that the Money Order has been cashed very soon. I suspect that it is really just a delay in getting the information back into the USPS system and that your application is fine.

I mailed ours on February 23rd, receipt signature on February 26th, checked cashed on my bank March 10th, and nothing since. Like Kathryn said looks like a long wait for all of us that filed and have not gotten NOA's yet.

Sigh.

Should have sent a check. Kinda worried that the USPS money order wasn't cashed.
