My Fiance is from Ufa Rssia is pretty far from Moscow! Can she take the medical exam somewhere in UFA? Or does she have to go the whole way to Moscow? What hospital could she take the medical exam at?

IT is best to call the Embassy and verify

The only hospitals that she can take the medical at are in Moscow and Vladivostok. AOM is the preferred choice in Moscow.

She'll have to go to M. for her interview anyway - suggest that she schedule her medical 2-3 days prior.

It has to be done in Moscow at one of the approved clinics listed on the website or in the packet she'll receive. She's either going to have to do two trips or do it all in one trip, just prior to the interview.

They want it to be performed at an official medical center under an agreement with the Embassy. I'm sure an enterprising applicant could easily make passing medical results with the right incentive if they could go to any local medical establishment. Thus, the reason.

I wish the US government and the Russian government could work it out to expand accepting visa applications in the other US consulates for which there are many. If nothing else, the St. Petersburg Embassy should be also doing visas and medical exams. Russia is too darn big for just one US Embassy handling immigration visas.

Agreed. Kinda silly for the biggest country in the world to have only one consulate for immigration visas.

Good point!!!!!!!!!!! I have to fly to Moscow, it is going to take 9 freaking hours by direct flight and a thousand bucks for a ticket. I am going to do my medical in Moscow too, because I have heard an appointed person in our city is charging extra... But it is a shame really we have a Consulate here but no Immigration officers to deal with immigration visas.
I just dont' know where to stay in Moscow for twoo weeks, hotels are way overpriced.

Definitely call Russian Girl Friday. I'm going through her right now. And don't waste any time doing it. She (Olyessa, Russian Girl Friday) tends to wait a couple days to answer emails, and I understand that May is the month where all the hotels and apartments start gouging people because of the festivals.

You must be living in Vladivostok? smile.gif So, I'm guessing that you're planning to stay in Moscow until you actually get your visa in hand and then fly from there to the U.S.?
slim
If you time it correctly, you can stay in Moscow for as little as two nights. You'll probably need to stay more like four, but once you find out when your interview is, you can fly in, get the medical the next day, go to the interview the day after, then fly out that afternoon or the next day.

My wife flew from Vladivostok also, and she only stayed in Moscow for three days. She did the medical in the Far East because it's a lot cheaper to pay the extra money there than to pay for an extra day in Moscow. Plus, you're already done by the time you get there so the only thing you have to do once in Moscow is pay for DHL and go to the interview. If you call/e-mail Olesya (see above) she'll let you stay in her flat and arrange a driver for you if you want (not necessary, but easier if you're on your fiance's dime) but either way, you'll save money by doing it in Vladivostok.

And as far as the plane being expensive and long..... you could always take the train!
