Heh...I just pm'd someone else with this exact information, so excuse the copy/paste:

Once I saw my packet arrive in Moscow, I waited about 3 days and then called the Department of State every morning. Their number is 202-663-1225. They'll ask for your case number, just give them the MOS number you received from NVC. Note that even though your packet has arrived in Moscow, it'll take them about a week or so to actually "receive" it into their system. The DoS person will say that an electronic copy of your packet has arrived but your hard copy has not. Just call every morning or so. Eventually they will tell you that the hard copy has been received, and when your interview date is.

I don't know why Moscow is slow on updating their appointment schedule. They say they update it on Mondays, but they seem to be pretty loose about it these days.

Mine sat in the mail room for a little over 2 weeks before it showed on the system. It is painful, but keep waiting.

I've found they update it every two weeks or so, give or take.

Your paralegal is wrong. It's more like 90 days, slightly less. According to your timeline you should expect a late May or early June interview. Take a look at my timeline for a better idea. (Feel free to Paypal me a share of that $2k. smile.gif)

I have been looking at timelines and I just got my interview scheduled for early may last week! Its taking usually a little under 2 and a half months from when the embassy recieves the electronic copy of your case!

Yep, VJ saves the day, yet again. (PM me for my PayPal info as well.)

The embassy website updates don't happen that frequently. It's more of a resource to check back on, not to "discover" when your interview is. Your fiancee might get the packet before the date is on the website.

Just keep checking back, but not every day. I recommend checking once a week. That's all. If you're expecting or hoping for daily updates in your case, you're going to drive yourself crazy. Relax. It's there, it's going to happen. SOON!

Good luck in the rest of your VJ process, and when that paralegal recommends that you use their $1500 services to apply for AOS, tell him to shove it where the sun don't shine and then log back on to VJ.

I emailed them once a week. Although it takes 2-3 days to get a response, they do always let you know. (ConsulMo@state.gov).
I would try to get some cash back from that paralegal! In my case, the interview was scheduled just under 60 days from their acknowledgment of petition receipt.

yes, slim ill do just that.smile.gif after a few kind irish limericks:) i called on friday at 1am est,(moscow is 7 hours ahead of us now due to time change) bit the bullet and used the credit card with the info service listed on the moscow embassy's website. the nice russian lady, very polite, took my info, and said,"call back today after 5pm moscow time,i will put inquiry, and you will know." next morning, fiancee sent me sms message stating she had called public number to embassy in moscow, they told her to" call back monday!", and she said to me"dear, dont call to them, maybe we will know monday...."
i said ok, but it just reminded me to call back info line:) so out came the old credit card and i called info line again. same lady, she said to me,"your fiancee's interview is scheduled for 20 may,8am."" spasibo balshoye! "i said. called my girl and told her. she asked me how i found out, i said"i know people, who know people":) thanks alot! now i have to update my timeline.

Yep, no need to be there for the interview, they won't hold it against you. You can't go in with her anyway. Congrats on the interview btw, it's a relief when it happens, isn't it? smile.gif

Nadya just had to take a mandatory 3-week unpaid furlough from her job because the hospital is out of money. She's kinda debating now about whether she should even bother going back to work or just hang out at her parent's place until it's time to go. It's a tough call because I obviously don't want her to burn any bridges in case for some reason the visa is either delayed or...that which we will not speak of happens. But for some reason last week she seemed to kind of change mental gears, and went from "we will talk about when I go, after Embassy gives visa," to "Maybe day after interview I go to the California!"
Kazan' Tiger
I'm almost thinking Nadya should give herself a rest too! It is a toughie!

Alla still refuses to discuss anything past the interview. She hints around, but still is just too superstitious. That visa has to be in her hand or it ain't real!

I think it is a common problem Mox yes.gif Elena asked me today when I thought I would come, and I told her I would come for Russian easter if she wanted. She said that would be perfect and she asked me what dates I thought. I told her I would probably arrive on the 25th and we would leave to come back to the US on the 28th or 29th. I asked her which is better, the 28th or 29th? and she said "I will think about it and we will talk about it later" and I said "well, you should think quickly because you want me to buy the tickets as soon as we know if you are approved or not after the interview, and your interview is 1 week from today and you leave for Moscow on Friday and we will not talk very much when you are there because you will be busy." She said "I not think about that, I very nervous now" laughing.gif

They really do seem to have an aversion about thinking too far into the future, for sure. When I was visiting Nadya, we never made any plans more than a day in advance, and usually it was in the afternoon that we made them, if at all.

In any case, I do like that she's starting to get a little more excited about going to "the California." smile.gif She's getting her police cert from her home village on Friday, or so she thinks. She seems to think they'll just give it to her, I'm thinking she's going to have a wait. We'll see. Of course, it'll be my fault if she has to wait because I've been saying that it's going to take a long time. Damn me! biggrin.gif

Congrats to all you new "appointees"! Its been a long road...

I just visited with Tanya for the last time on Yahoo. The next time I see her smiling face I intend to kiss it in Atlanta! She leaves for Moscow in the morning with son and cat. Appointment is on the 3rd, tickets for the 8th but can change if need arises. Really wish I could be there with her but it is not possible at this time. She is more confident than I am about the interview but she has a big phobia about the medical.

Will you guys have the opportunity to meet each other in Moscow? Are your interviews scheduled close to each other? That could be a lot of fun.

No, I won't be making the trip to Moscow. I really wanted to, but work has been slow, and financially, it just ain't possible.

Alla is afraid of both parts. She had a health problem several years ago and afraid they could give her a hard time about it when reviewing hsitory. She's also nervous about the interview fearing they will grill her because we had to re-file from 2004. I told her tell the whole story and you should be fine.

It would be cool if all of us having the interviews close could have a big get together over there. biggrin.gif

That *would* be pretty cool. One of the other forum members' wives called Nadya a few weeks ago and told her all about the interview process, the medical, and life in "the California." It was a really big confidence builder for her I think. Getting a bunch of couples together in Moscow to talk it all over and dispel some fears and rumors would be really cool. I have been in Russia with my fiance the last 2 months have to go back home on April 6! (Homestay Visa will expire) I was thinking about making the trip to back to Moscow for the interview! Our interview is May 6! i thik I might just saty in the Usa though because Have to have enough money for our wedding in june)))
slim
I wouldn't even worry about having money for the wedding, I would worry about having money for every day life. (Jeez I wish I had the bank some of you people generate!)

You're going to have to set up shop for two people and she's going to have some serious $$$$ needs after arrival. Not only that, she's not going to be able to work either. So, you're going to have extra $$$$ going out, but no extra coming in.

Whatever money you have now, save it for the rainy day, because it's coming.

That is, unless you just have a lot of money and aren't really worried about it. In that case, more power to you. Have fun!
