That's the broken image icon in ie. That means that your browser couldn't find the image at the location referenced. I'm seeing the same thing here now. Looks like the host is up (bcgen.com), but that the port isn't answering right now. Maybe the service is borked for a bit. Unless someone here knows the people that run it or want to shoot them an email, we'll just have to wait for them to notice or to fix it, I guess. ttyl,

I'm hoping someone can help me I'm trying to download the MS Word copy of the DS-230 Part I coversheet, but having no luck. When I hit the link below it opens within the browser but it is not readable. I tried everything I can think of and I also tried a right click on the link and a “Save Target As” but again with no luck.

There appears to be something messed up with apache or php or something techie like that right now

Here's what you (and others) need to do when downloading until this is fixed:
1) Right click
2) Go to "Save Target As" ("Save Link As" for you firefox cats)
3) CHANGE THE FILENAME to something that ends in .doc for example, coversheet.doc or AoSFeeBill.doc and hit save
4) Open in word (or openoffice.org or abiword)
For whatever reason, right now VJ's server(s) are telling your browser that it's a .php file (which it certainly is not) - specifically index.php. Windows doesn't know what to do with a .php file. It doesn't know that you want to open it with word or anything. I'm guessing when you say "again with no luck", you mean that you're getting some sort of dialog from Win asknig you what in the world you want it to do with a .php file. So when you change the filename to filename.doc, then it says "Hey! This is a word file! I know what to do with this." and happily goes about its merry way. Hope this helps. It worked for me just now. ttyl,

Could can download it
here. You should read James's shortcuts. It's in there. Also, you might want to consider sending a note by email once the form has been generated. I did that yesterday and received an email today saying they'd accepted it.

Hi Paul
You dont necessarily have to have the DS-3032 that girl 37 provided the link for (also available in James Shortcuts post #22)....you can use the example email in the first post of this thread and do the choice of agent that way as it is a well tested option now and appears that an original signature or form itself is not necessary. They will then confirm within a couple of days by return email.

Ah, but that's a horse of a different color.

The links that girl gave you were the ones that you asked for. The coversheet isn't in the generated instructions (well, at least not how our files are - the generated instructions are a pdf, so you wouldn't be able to edit them to change the barcode and case number). The I-864 coversheet has its own link in post 5 of this thread (James' shortcuts) about 4 paragraphs down from where you were trying to download the NVC generated instructions. Look for the bold text that says I-864 coversheet. It sounds like that's what you want.

I did the name change thing (as I posted earlier) just now with that link and it worked fine for me.
girl37, good catch on the instructions.

It looks like these are the ones that we've been expecting for a little while now. Note how they say they were modified May 2006 and they only require 1 year of tax returns. It will be interesting to see if the ones mailed out in the next few weeks have the same language. ttyl,

Does anyone know how long it will take before NVC schedules the interview at the consulate? I have applied for my parents' GC. the case is complete since January, meaning NVC has all the necessary documents and is in the process to schedule the interview with the consulate. I know this will take time, but how long before I start getting worried? Isn't 6 months a bit long for this?

Interesting news, shortcutters!
It looks like the new
I-864 form has been published. The date on the page says it was just modified 22 June 2006. The page lists which of the old forms are still acceptable that they all expire this October. It looks a bit more straightforward, but also looks like there's a lot more info that you have to fill out (or maybe it's been too long since I did mine

). If you haven't started with one of the old ones, this will be the way to go.

This new form also has the new requirement of only the latest tax year, instead of the last three years. If I'm skimming the instructions correctly, it also appears that all the other evidence (employment letter, pay stubs, etc) are now
*optional* and only need to be submitted if you think they'll help your case. So it looks like the only other thing you need to submit with this now is a single IRS tax transcript (which you can get pretty easily, and for free - see my sig). Note that while the checklist says you need W2s, 1099s, etc, the instructions state these are not needed if you're using an IRS tax transcript. Hopefully I didn't miss the announcement about this that someone else made in another forum

I'm totally serious.

I think that's what James meant for the DS-2030 at least, when he said to print it out.
QUOTE
Print out the result from the resulting pop-up window, cut out the barcode and case number below it, and paste it in the horizontal box on the DS-3032.
Anyway, I agree, emailing is easier. You don't have to worry about finding the tape, scissors, or glue. It saves a stamp or an Express envelope, and it's fast.

Jun 25 2006, 06:28 PM
Yeah, unless you have a full (expensive) version of adobe acrobat, you'll have to go low tech with the DS-3032 (you didn't make me cringe girl37 nya nya nya) and physically cut and paste the barcode. All the rest of the docs are .doc files, so you will be able to just edit them directly.
However, as girl pointed out, email is a much better way to go. You'll have a faster response and it's much easier. Quite a few people lately have enjoyed a 1 or 2 day turnaround for a response and you don't even have to worry about if the forms look right, etc.

Hi Aussiewench,
Sorry for sending you PM. You are right, any mistake can be corrected by others in the forum. I am not sure if you have seen a case that has taken longer than mine to get an interview schedule(Case completed jan3,2006 and waiting eversince), but if you did, please give me some idea as too how long is reasonable wait time, I really appreciate.

Hi There!
I am new to this site and I think I need as much help as possible. I was born in England and I married a US permanent resident in Jan 2004 in March 2004 he filed an I130. I had no idea that it would take this length of time, but after read a few of the e-mails it seems as though I have just started

In May 2006 I was approved by Immigration Services

and I phoned the NVC who informed us that it's been pass to them. In Nov 2006 my husband would be in the States for 5 years can you tell me the earliest time that he can apply for his citizenship? we have no idea if he has apply for K1, 2, 3 or to be honest what the lawyer has applied for me, is there any way of finding out this information without contacting the lawyer? Can you also tell me what happens next? I appreciate any help that you can give me.
Many thanks
By the way I do not know what NOA or any other of the abreviations can you please explain.
thanks again

Hi again,
I downloaded the forms but the ones with a barcode wouldn't open with the barcode. When i tried to open those .docs, I get a popup saying:
"UNABLE TO LOAD GRAPHICS coversion filter. do you want to continue?"
When i click yes, it opens the doc but the bar code is not there.
I have winxp service pack 2 and whatever the default wordpad is.
Any ideas how to fix this so i can see the barcode image when I open these forms?
Thanks,

Aussie, would this be the email address to send in the email designating
the choice of Agent(DS-3032) ?

Choice of Agent was accepted via e-mail for us, saved time. As I get the new documents for fees and forms, I would like to add those for other members. I noticed slight differences between the I-864 bill and Jame's Shortcut template. Let me know if I can send scanned copies to someone, where that person can convert the new and different forms to Word documents for use by other members.
God Bless, Gary

Hi,
For the I-230.....
Can we just call the automated phone system to find out if the 230 has been generated?
Or must we speek to a live operator?
Thanks! These shortcuts have already saved me about 3 weeks! :-)

Hello,
I've been waiting for a while now for an IV fee bill. I know technically that this should not be self-generated according to James's shortcuts because of the random code placed at the end of the barcode on the bill. However, I think I'll take a chance in generating it myself without the random code if any members have a copy of theirs that they could send me. Question: Do any members have a scan of their IV fee bill? Thanks for your help,
Gary

It has been tried in the past without success. Have you called the NVC and spoken to an operator?

Just noticed this, sorry.
Yes you can hear via the automated system. You will only be able to hear the latest so if you think you may of missed something, just follow the prompts to speak to an operator.
All the best to you.
