Bridget, I couldnt agree with you more. This is the reason I haven't been posting in here. The board has become very difficult to navigate because all the threads, most of which are nonsense or could have easily been added to an existing thread.

I'm not talking about congrats threads but seriously not every announcement or recipe needs its own thread.

no i have a few more weeks till that starts. It just used to be so easy to come in here and know what the heck topics were what. Now we have day threads without the day, a kajillion threads about stuff not related to mena, i love arabs, i hate arabs, i'm an arab so don't mess with me, blah blah blah. can't we just keep it simple is all i'm saying.


or maybe i'm just cranky. i dunno. i just don't like the set up anymore is all i'm sayin'. it's like when you come into a room full of people and everyone's talking at once so you can't concentrate on one conversation.

I think alot of people are getting approved and there is a lot more action than normal on the boards.. Yes you are being cranky.

I'm with ya, it's annoying me also. There should be one thread for visa announcements. There's already a thread for recipe that is pinned so no need for more. Really no need for I love/hate Arabs...we can do that stuff in the daily thread. Hmmm what else?

I see an exciting ticker, CONGRATS! This really is the year of the baby.

I can go around and make suggestions for people to consolidate more, but until organizers can actually merge like threads, we will probably see this. It's just a function of the number of posters on the board and their familiarity with message board etiquette.

But hey.....at least it gives me reading material I was wanting!

You are definitely not required to read every post that is posted. I agree some over post the same topics and alot of nothing topics. If you are not interested in a particular thread do not read it. Not everyone does it on purpose and making another thread to complain about it as you say just makes another thread like the ones you are complaining about. So you are guilty of the same. Noone is perfect.

This is becoming an I hate too many threads thread.

I think we need a new thread in order to give the opposing view.

I agree with Bridget though, today it's been especially hard for me because there are soooo many, i have to go a page back just to make sure i haven't missed something important.

The other point is having so many threads knocks the main threads of interest off the page. We have pinned threads for a reason. Posting in them will only make it easier for everyone to find that information later. All of these threads makes searching for other threads a complete nightmare.

Clearly there are others that feel the same way and its only going to benefit the board and everyone to try to condense things so they can be found more easily.

It does say post anything here in the MENA forum. I don't think it's going to stop because a couple people want to control how it flows.

We do create a lot of threads that have no relevance to actual immigration related issues or problems.

I think non-essential debates (arab loving, arab hating, news stories, 9/11 posts) are a waste of energy.

But I do like to read more positive threads and congratulatory threads.

There have been many debates about what type of content is appropriate for the regional forums. Some think that it should be limited to chit chat type stuff like the above and visa-related issues should be in a different forum - NVC, Embassy, AOS, etc. I don't think everyone is ever going to agree.

If you have real concerns about it, I'd suggest either posting in the Site Discussion forum where Ewok will see it, or PM him directly.

Interesting - So what would you like to see. I am honest, you would like one thing for happy announcements, and what and what not should be discussed. I am interested to see what everyone has to say. I mean clear cut, what should and should not be discussed.

What to do to do today a minute or two till two. A think distinctly hard to say yet harder still to do.

I don't think pointless posts are going to stop it's a forum online. People are bored they'll post in the MENA forum. If they have serious questions they probably direct themselves to the main K3 and I-130 area. That's what I do! It was just a thought that since it IS online and no one is getting paid to actually run the MENA forum let everyone do what they want.

I think I must be overly sensitive today b/c this topic/discussion makes me feel like crying??? WTF???

I do have an idea, but not sure who or how it could be done...what if the forum topics were seperated into sub topics....for example:

*interviews (include anything related to interview dates, past interviews, etc)
*congrats (self explanatory)
*AP Concerns (delays, questions, gripes, whatever)
*MENA men, women, and children (the happies, the not happies, why we love them, etc)
*Daily threads (hump day, etc etc)


Among others...but this just popped into my head...lol

Well.... I think the population of the mena board has exploded... Or the board is so much damn fun everyone is over here.. Hell half of the return comments are from sub saharan people, india , we even get the uk over here. The days of the mena board being small and tight knit are over thats for sure.. And some of the funnest threads are the weird ones.. recipes need to be kept off the board though.. thats a huge waste cause how can you find them anyway later.. If you go to that thread it helps.. But hell, there is so little good news in this world that I am really happy when people come home or get their visas. Damn, whats wrong with you people trying to eliminate those? Gees.. And Bridget don't start threads if you want them to diminish.. You have started quite a few yourself over the last 2 weeks... But I agree alot of this stuff has got to stuff and we have spouses on here and then the other spouse posts and the population is just getting really big on here.. Just get used to it.. Its not going to be a small board anymore.. I for one am going to stop going on and on about the crap I talked about last week and this one.. It really was pointless and just got everyone off topic and I am really sorry...

Thinking about it, I wonder if there is a way we can "hide" threads that don't interest us? I have no experience whatsoever with these forums, so its just a thought.

Or hide members posts like signature lines that truly infuriate us. One time ppl talked about the ignore button option for certain members but I never did find that.

I think there has just been a lot of action in C airo lately leading to so many important posts.... so it makes it seem like a jumble.... Go cairo

what i hate about the recipe threads is all the chatting that goes on. u go there to look at recipes and u have to short thru the chatting which means less recipes.

i agree with you jackie, if you don't want to read it then don't open it. I don't if something don't interest me.

No one specifically pointed out your thread here. "Don't open it"is just the point everyone has made. There are so many threads, that its hard to get through them.

Some people use this board for chit chat and some use it for immigration, no one is disputing that and no one is saying that it should change. What we are saying is to CONDENSE the topics so the board is easier to navigate for EVERYONE. I don't see what is so unreasonable about this request and why everyone is all up in arms about it!

Oh I remembered one more thing. There is that feature called subscription for the threads you want to track. That would make it easier and simpler for those wishing to keep it that way. It's like pinning threads in your own inbox.
