about 5 weeks ago.. My fiancee had their home broken into while they were asleep. Her wallet was stolen along with many other things.

She tell me she has went and got her NBI?

but nothing else replaced..

I wasn't expecting the approval to come so quick, and I had no idea she hadn't replace any of her major ID'S until today..

I just received my MNL# and was planning on calling tonight to get my pin # and make the appointment for the interview.

But she tells me she has to have her PASSPORT to make the medical appointment?

She tells me that it will take 1 week to get her ID and another to get her PASSPORT..

So it appears that I'm not able to even make the interview appointment let alone her medical?

Does anyone out there that live in the Phils have any suggestions on what I/we should do?

I believe I can make the appointment for the interview tonight.. but will I be safe for her to get her ID and PASSPORT in
time to make her medical and then the interview..

its sad to have the MNL # now.. and having to possibly wait for these items..

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your fiancee, hopefully they will catch the culprit.

Your timeline says the USEM has not yet received your petition so I doubt if you can get your interview schedule immediately. Wait for the USEM to receive your petition from NVC, by then maybe you can get an appointment. Usually the interview is a month or two after the NVC has sent the approved petition to the Philippines so this should give your fiancee enough time to apply for everything. It will be expensive but she can apply for her passport and have it processed expressly to get it in a short period of time. She has to pay more of course.

If you read the timelines of the other couples here, the interview doesnt happen overnight once you get your MNL case number so base on your timeline, that you just received your MNL case number, your fiancee has more than enough time to get a passport and new ID.

I hired an angency to work for my passport and it took 3 days and paid additional Php 300.00 for the rush. She still have time to prepare, the earliest appointment you can get at the USEM is April 22nd.

I see that she can get a Postal ID so she can get her PASSPORT? how long does that take to get? She has a NBI ID.. but from what I understand that wont help for the PASSPORT?

Yes, about 3 weeks ago.. she and her niece and 2 brothers we asleep upstairs, and when she came don the next morning, her teen age brother was on the PC surfing and didn't even notice that the door handle was missing and the parts on the floor.. They frantically looked where they all put the purses and wallets and I was just glad they were all safe. I sent money to cover her ID's but... Zandy assumed that we had time since we were expecting May or June before the K-1 would be approved...

How long does it take to get a postal ID? will that get you your passport?

She needs to present 3 valid i.d's or atleast that what they asked from me. If she cant get any more i.d besides the postal I would advice to ready her birth certifcate and baptismal just in case.

my mom applied for a postal id and its really an official/valid id so that's a good one to have. i cant remember but it doesnt take a week to acquire one. depending on how busy they are... also there's comelec id (commission on election) that is for voting id (also a gov't id so thats valid also)... requirement for passport is a bit tricky depending on who's the person you're talking with behind the glass window lol... but some of the basic requirements which they also asked from me, were transcript of records from my school, my school id, nbi, birth certificate, baptismal, and passport size photo... those are additional evidence that prove your identity so i really hope she got at least the bc,nbi,baptismal, then the postal id and transcript from the school if ever she's got one. good luck and hope it will go on smoothly...

just her ID's was stolen... She had a expired passport that she never used but it was misplaced several years ago... but that wasn't in her wallet just her ID.

She has replace her NBI ID several weeks ago.. but no other.

I believe she has already submitted for her birth certificate and her (CENOMAR) earlier this week online.

So, I don't know if I should go ahead and see if I can make the appointment tonight.. I have my MNL # but not even sure if the USE even has received.

NVC says they mailed it last tuesday.. so since it's the Holiday week.. I may not be able to set the appointment anyway.

I will western union some cash to her and have her go get her Postal ID.. I believe she has her high school transcript and baptismal.

I'm sorry for what happened to your fiancee, at least they were not physically harmed in any way.

May I ask what's her location in the Philippines? If she's somewhere in Metro Manila she's in luck coz their passport processing time is shorter compare to people in the provinces.

Requesting birth certificate and cenomar online takes longer compared to going directly to the nearest NSO office. You can request for BC & Cenomar and get it on the same day, sometimes even just a few minutes to a few hours. So it might be a better idea if she go to the nearest NSO office. It won't matter if she have already requested online, she can still use those additional copies when she gets to the US or just for her personal file.

As ronmay said, people at the dfa request different things from passport applicants probably depending also to how young the applicant look. When I first applied for passport I was in office uniform and I was not asked to submit too many additional requiements, I submitted passport sized photos, NBI, birth certificate, photocopies of SSS ID & Driver's license and that was it. I was not asked for any school records. But there was one girl who was asked to come back and bring her school year book on top of her TOR, diploma and other pertinent documents.

If she needs a new passport, start now. The days of getting a "rush" 3 day passport I think are pretty much over. When my wife got her passport, we did the rush processing and it took about a week. Just last month we did my step-daughter's passport and went to the same travel agency for assistance. They said no more rush and it will take 3 weeks. Went directly to DFA in Davao City and they said it will be about 18 days, but ended up being delayed and took even longer. In other words, tell her not to wait on applying for that new passport.

You can go in person if you like waiting in lines, but based on where you are with the visa journey, you also could do this via the official DFA service agent, Pilipinas Teleserve: http://www.passport.com.ph/app/index/ (personal appearance still required, but with this process it is appoinment based - no day long line waiting and managed by the service Agent. We used this service for a renewal. Time was 10 days, cost 1200 pesos (plus cost of photos).

She doesn't have her expired Passport. It's with some family and they can't locate the box.

She has her NBI and will have her birth certificate on monday or tuesday.. She told me she apply for her postal ID on monday I guess.

I think she will have all that is listed below except of the expired passport..

1. NBI
2. Birth certificate
3. Postal ID
4. Passport photos
5. Previous employment ID
6. Police certificate (get on monday)

but no expired passport..


She says she is worried about her school transcript which she will try and get next week but it may take a while.. She thinks they will ask for this since she has little ID.

It will be sad that I could make out appointment on monday for her interview.. but can't because we don't even know what she will even have to do for her passport.. and it's my understanding she has to have for the medical at St. Lukes.

I have the cash and the paperwork on my end and the US Government is doing their part.. but for her to be delayed because so some thief.. will be very sad.

it will be fine ul see... we could try to bring all that she has now and the employment id is a plus too especially if its a well-known company... like what everyone said if she got a yearbook, why not bring it too... anything that can help... and if this isnt enough, then we'll try for the agency. sometimes its easier to go thru the agency and have them work it... we'll just hope for the best!

dont let her say to the officers that she'll get a passport coz of k1 visa or k3 coz they will ask more from her... just let her say she wants it to travel abroad as a TOURIST... thats what most of us here did

GOOD ADVISE!!! ABSOLUTELY DO OT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT EMMIGRATION. REASON FOR PASSPORT? TOURIST LANG!

Her college transcripts will NOT be needed nor particularily helpful for getting a passport. It is the School ID they are interested in...but in the philippines, no ID's are valid if they are expired (go figure! I guess they think that the person in the ID is no longer the person represented!! haha...they cant seem to understand the card is using for ID purposes, not for MEMBERSHIP purposes!! oh well..this IS the philippines!)

It probably is a good idea for her to have her complete college transcripts (called T.O.R. here in the PI) for that matter, even her TOR from high School for other purposes in the future, but they are not needed and wont be asked for for for her passport application.

hi mike and zandy. i lost my passport too and had to get a new passport when i decided to go to singapore for a tour last august 2006 (i havent met my fiance yet by this time). so this is what i submitted to the DFA to get a new passport.
1.) affidavit of loss (notarized)
2.)a fotocopy of my lost passport (i just happen to have kept a fotocopy of it but if she doesnt have one its ok)
3.)expired license and fotocopy to be submitted
4.)expired credit card with my pic on it with fotocopy to be submitted
5.)my collection of old NBI personal copies i had in the past and fotocopies of them to be submitted
6.)my voter's affidavit and glued pic on it and again fotocopy hehehe
7.)NEW NBI for that year and fotocopy again hehehe
8.)authenticated birth certificate from NSO
9.)old SSS E-1 form and fotocopy
10.) my diploma and fotocopy
file all the fotocopies together and the orignals for reference only. except for the NBI, BC and affidavit of loss they need the original.

they dont mind about the expired ID, as long as they have my face on it with my name

may i ask if u have police report of the robbery that happened? if u do, u can include it.

I'm sorry to hear what happend. She can still go to Medical even without her passport all she need is 3- 2"x2" pictures but she can't get the result without her passport.

I'm not sure if this is technically true or not. But, regardless, I wouldn't advise it. Here is why:

Even if they would let her inside SLEC to start Day 1 of her medical exam,
as spidergirl says she can't get her results without submitting her passport. What "getting her result" means in SLEC speak is that the SLEC will not Forward her paperwork to the US Embassy without the passsport. No forwarded paperwork, means no Embassy interview. In addiiton, when she finally did get her passport, she would have to make another personal trip to SLEC/Manila to deliver the passport.
