Hi there,

I am not sure if i'm posting this question in the correct forum but i'm not sure where to go.

I recently just received approval for residency and they have ordered a card for me. My Greencard will have my marriage name on it. As my passport is still under my maiden name, I'm wondering if there will be any issues for me traveling overseas and using my maiden name on my passport to re-enter with my marriage name on my greencard.

Has this happened to anyone? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Jo

This question is asked all the time and should be in the FAQ pages.

You book your airline tickets using the name in your passport, and carry a copy of marriage cert just in case a question comes up about the different name in passport and on the green.card.

There is no problems with this.

I have traveled multiple times with all my official US ID in my married name (AP, my GC, my GC+extension letter) and my passport and airline tickets in my maiden name, and have not had one bit of problems. I carry a copy of my marriage certificate as well, but I have never been asked to show it. You'll be fine!

Ditto. good.gif I've also never been asked for my passport at the POE. All they've been interested in is the greencard.
