We're filing for Removal of Conditions kind of at the last minute (30 days before expiration date due to several financial emergencies) and bank account is a bit short, do I need to worry about them cashing the check for the fees right away?

I think so. If you go by this post, they will probably try to cash the check within a week (petition mailed to NSC 2/29, NOA1 received last week).

If you don't have overdraft protection, I'd find anyway I could to get some money into your account to cover it (cash advance on credit card, borrow, whatever). Otherwise, you will have to refile, and you'll be cutting it even closer, although as long as you file before the expiration date, even if it's a day, you'll be OK. If not, you'll have to explain why you're filing late.

My check was cashed within 6 days... other have taken a week or 2 to be cashed.... I would not send your application until you have the money to cover the check.... if the check was declined it would hold up your case and cost you extra $$$...

My Check was cashed within a few days- I'd wait until you have the money

My check was cashed 7 days after they received the application. If your concern is about the check bouncing, why not send a money order instead? As the number that is written on the back of the check isn't the number by which you can access your file information, the real benefit of sending the check is to give you some idea of how quickly they are - or are not- processing your application, at least at the beginning.

Sorry but i have to say i would rather they cash my check right away...
I sent my package on 3/11,08 with a return receipt, so far(03/18) still no news, my check hasn't been cashed yet,
but RositaL sent his/her package on the same day, had already got the NOA
I felt so frustrated crying.gif
I am so worried about my case, it has been 5 days but i even haven't got my receipt from the post office.

It took 8 days from the date I mailed the application to the day I received back my return receipt. There was a weekend involved in its pick up as well. You can track the receipt so find out what date it arrived at the service center. You can also check online to see the name of the person who received the application. It is early days yet. I wouldn't panic. I haven't received any further word myself - no NOA or Biometrics appointment although I see others who have received those already even though they mailed their applications after I did. I hope you receive your receipt back soon, but meanwhile, check on line.
WenRI
thank you for your words, Kathryn41

I had checked the usps, it said " Your item was delivered at 1:11 PM on March 13, 2008 in SAINT ALBANS, VT 05479."
I only bought the green-card receipt but not the electronic one, so I couldn't see it online.
It's the reason why I worry about my case. Did they really get my package?
If they did, why VSC haven't cash my check since they have got it 6 days ago.
I didn't write my A-number on the check, will it be the reason?

hope it's going to be a clear sky for both of us wub.gif

Hey WenRI.. Don't worry you'll get yours soon:) i sent mine via Fedex early morning delivery to Vermont. I've heard it can take a couple weeks to get your NOA and cheque cashed.

Yes you do need to worry....... the last thing you want is to send the goverment a check and have it bouce. That is a no, no.

Some get cashed quickly and others a little longer
WenRI
thanks, RositaL

As soon as i woke up this morning, couldn't wait to check my bank account again. I was so pleased that VSC finally cashed my check~~ There was a hand writting dated as 03/14 on the front of the check, but it was cashed on 03/18.

At noon, I finally got the return receipt from the mail-man. Then I knew the reason why it was late.
Eventhough the package was delivered at 1PM on 03/13, but it was received and signed at 4AM on 03/14.
I guess VSC only pick up those once a day very early in the morning.
