Full Version: Do I need to change name on the passport?

I have been reading about people changing their names on the passports and so forth and I got a bit confused with what I have read earlier about this issues.

I have used my given name and my husband's last name, the name that I plan to adopt in the I-130 and G-325A so far, and I have written my maiden name wherever requested in the forms.

But, my passport, birth certificate, Malaysian national identity, marriage certificate all bear my maiden name only. Will this pose a problem down the road?

Since the new name can be derived from our marriage certificate (my given name + my husband's last name), Is it necessary to change the name on my passport
(which requires change of name on the national identity card first). It's not common for people in my country to change name after marriage, and the process of changing name can be very tedious and takes a long time. So, if it's not necessary, I would just save the trouble.

well i guess when you book the ticket, just have them put the name on which your passport appears.

MANY women do change their last names in their passports after they get married... you can do the same tooo.

No harm in it.
