I need to ask some advice about considering a job change. I didn't really find anything in other threads that was similar to my situation. Well my husband recently had his visa interview, and our case is in administrative review at this point. Everything went well, and my income was fine on our AOS forms. We are just waiting to hear when they will issue the visa.

My problem is that I'm thinking I need a job change or to take a break. I was hoping to take some time off and go visit my husband in Egypt if possible. I am a new nurse and my job is very stressful, and especially so considering that I can't be with the one I love Some days are so bad at work that I can't imagine going on like this without my husband to be here with me, and the only thing that has kept me from quitting on those days is the fact that I'm in this visa process and I don't want to complicate things. I am considering either taking a couple months off, quitting, or reducing my hours to casual status, possibly by summer, if my husband doesn't have the visa yet by then.

I don't know if this will affect our case processing, or invalidate our AOS (since my income would be much lower, possibly not above the requirements for a few months, if I did this. But I would eventually be able to find another job with little difficulty). On the other hand, I was thinking that maybe it won't matter, since they have already gone through our paperwork and they are just doing the administrative review - maybe they won't even notice the change?? Do I have to notify someone, the embassy, if I did this kind of change of employment? Or just don't say anything, and hope they don't find out? And also, do they check up on my job status when my husband gets into the US, or when he tries to get his green card? (thinking ahead for the future, although by then I could have another job if I want to).

Anyways sorry for all the questions. Perhaps in the morning I'll feel better and like I can hang onto this job for a few more months at least. On the bright side, the officer taking care of our case at the Riyadh consulate emailed us back and said that he is going to have someone "expedite" our case. This was after my husband asked for his passport back, since we might want to travel and see each other. So I don't know - maybe this is good news...

You indicate that you are a IR-1/CR-1 filer, but you don't have a time line entered, so it will be a bit hard to answer your question. Personally, I would not consider taking any time off (ie quitting my job) because I know I have to provide some current pay stubs and employment letter when my husband's case gets to NVC/Consulate.

So now will there need to be further proof before he gets his visa? Does anyone know? I suppose it's possible they can ask for anything again before he gets the visa, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience in this part of the process and any advice,

Oops, looks like I had some problems posting the last entry and clicked Enter too many times!

Ok here is my timeline that I posted in another thread.
The timeline form on VJ didn’t seem to make sense for our case, since both our I-130 and I-129 got approved and sent to the consulate. (CR-1 stuff in bold):

June 8, 07 - I-130 sent
June 18, 07 - I-130 receipt notice (I-129F sent shortly after)

July 3, 07 - I-129F receipt notice
July 24, 07 - I-129F sent to Vermont Service Center

July 13, 07 - I-130 approved & sent to NVC

Gathered all documents and forms required by NVC for I-130, including our AOS –we finished sending everything that the NVC required by the first week of December 07.

Jan. 10, 08 - NVC sent letter saying we had all required paperwork, and would forward our case to Riyadh consulate (got visa interview date for Feb. 12)

Jan. 29, 08 –I-129F was approved & sent to NVC (our lawyer told us at this point that it didn’t matter, since we were already scheduled for interview for the CR-1, which is a better option)

Feb. 4, 08 - letter from NVC that they would forward I-129 to Riyadh consulate (I was told by another member that the consulate probably cancelled it there, since we were already going CR-1 process).

Feb. 12, 08 - CR-1 visa interview at Riyadh consulate (seemed to go well, although no definite answer – they took my husband’s passport and fingerprints; he paid Fedex fee for passport to eventually be sent back). Our case is still in AR according to consulate.
