Hi guys.
Since I don't have my GC yet, I am using my EAD so i can legally work. I applied for this one job and of course, i was asked if i have proof to show that i can work here in the US. I just showed them my EAD and i was told that they have to verify if i am employable.Inwardly, i was rolling my eyes. It clearly states on my EA & SSN card that this person is authorized to work in the US/valid for work.
anyone with similar experience? That's not right, whoever told you that has no idea what he/she is talking about. here's the
I-9 form that employers have to fill out when they employ someone. As you can see in page 3, "LISTS OF ACCEPTABLE DOCUMENTS", the I-766 (known to us as EAD) is #4 on list A "Documents that Establish Both Identity and Employment Eligibility". Did you also have your social security card with you?
Some employers run a background check, that includes a social security check and/or status check. IF this is what the interviewer meant, then that's normal, but otherwise...geez he/ she needs to buy a clue and a compass
