Hi Folks!

Jamaican lady here married to my american hubby for 4 months now and want to get this process started as I would love to be able to join him in the US by this December.

I am going to be sending in my I-130 packet in a few weeks but I want to send in as much as I can so that the process can be as swift as possible.

So far I have:

1. Completed and signed I-130 form
2. G-325A form for him
3. G-325A form for me
4. Passport sized picture of him
5. Passport sized picture of myself
6. Marriage Certificate copy
7. Copy of his birth certificate
8. Money order for the $355US fee
9. Proof of marital relationship

Is there anything else that should be sent in now that I am missing?

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to get the inteview after you send everything in?

and lastly, while waiting for your interview can you still travel on your visitors visa?

This whole thing is new to us and we are clueless! He is currently deployed to Iraq and we would love it if I had the visa by the time he returns.

Thank you for any responses that come my way! smile.gif

Correct, after USCIS approves the I-130, the petition will be sent to NVC, then NVC will send out a visa bill, and request for additional things from the beneficiary and a request for the affidavit of support (I-864) from the petitioner, along with an I-864 handling fee.

Time to start a timeline http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=46496

Welcome Jamerican,

You'll find a wealth of info here. I think your pack sounded pretty solid. what service center are you sending it too? That can give a good time to go off of with getting your visa. There is a Jamaica forum too if you ever want specifics to that process here:

Hi Marlita!

I realize there is so much to read here...it's going to take me a while to get through a lot of the posts. I am trying my best to make sure I don't have any hitches in the who process.

I am not sure which service center my packet will be going to since I am going to mail it to one of the lockboxes. My hubby lives in NY though so I don't know if that helps to know which one.

That's great that there is a Jamaica forum. I am going to go check it out right now. Thanks again! smile.gif

Oh I have another question....

I know that you are supposed to send in the fee with the initial packet but i am noticing that there is another fee that has to be paid when the Visa Center gets hold of the documents. Do you have to pay the $355 two times?

This is confusing me a little bit.

Thanks for the clarification (when I get it). good.gif

Your list looks correct. Just a side not: Getting finalized by December 2008 may be a tad wishful judging by current time lines, but who knows...

Just incase you didn't get the chance to read the posting in the Military Spouses thread ..... don't forget to include a copy of your Hubby's deployment orders, and a cover note in big red letters saying 'Military Expedite, Deployment Orders Enclosed' ..... utilise the expedite option, and hopefully they'll speed it up for you. Goodluck xx
