Hello just got off the phone with DOS asking about the appointment issue (they have no clue) had to inform her and she went to the USEM website to read it. But as we talked she said the Packet 3 was sent out yesterday to my fiancée, I thought they only send out packet 4 in the Philippines. I'm I wrong do they send out packet 3? And yes I have read the Manila Embassy K-1 visa guide. Thanks in advance for reply.

Please read the difference between packet 3 and 4 below. . When I received my packet, that was september of 2006, it contained instuctions and appointment dates. They called it packet 4. Perhaps they sent the packet 4 to your fiancee, as they don't send packet 3 anymore.

Here is the link where I copied the paragraph. Hope this helps.

"Although the IV packet system has served well for over forty years with relatively few changes, the ease with which information can now be maintained and shared electronically makes the linear, rationed approach to immigrant visa information less useful. The numbered packets, many of which are no longer used by consular sections and rarely seen by applicants, were also the source of some confusion. The numbered packet system has therefore been eliminated. Packets 1, 2, 2a and 3a no longer exist. Standardized information sheets should be used to respond to queries as discussed below. The old Packet 3 has now been renamed the "Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants." Packet 4 is referred to as the "Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants." Packet 4a, important as the mailing that initiates the termination process, is now referred to as the "Follow-Up Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants."

Thanks for your reply, I already was aware of this thats why the confusion, even with I told the person on the phone they no longer use packet 3, she said that is what their system is showing.

It's computer-generated, maybe that's why. Don't worry, just relax. I'm sure your fiancee will receive the right packet. God bless...
