It would really be worth contacting CBR - I hate to break bad news but I know when she was going through it took months, no-one would tell her anything, she couldn't find out anything and then all of a sudden, one day she got her NOA2 - it took... *checks spreadsheet* 234 days for her to get her NOA2...
Lol, that's just way too long!It really sucks but I don't think there is anything you can do but wait no matter how frustrating and horrible it is. Defo agree you should see each other though - that is always a pick-me-up!!

Hang in there. I was told several different things which I believe all mean the same crap:
Extended review
Background checks
Name checks
Each time someone would look into my file they'd use some different terminology as above

. Anyway, I did contact my congressman and he did an inquiry twice...all it did was let me know that they were still checking into it. I do believe the 2nd time he checked was the charm though, because he sent me the email that USCIS sent to HIM as a response and it's a bunch of canned response junk that basically says there's nothing they can do until the check is completed...
Very next day I got my Noa2. So I believe since they were forced to check into my case, they realized it was done and approved it right away. Our case is pretty straightforward...no past criminal records on either of us whatsoever...I have a common name (first middle and last are common names and all can be spelled different ways.) Not sure if that's why it took so long, or if it was me for sure that caused the delay, and we'll probably never know.
Oh,another thing is that the first time I called in December (uscis) they told me it was on the extended review shelf and it could take another 6 months. Sounds like the same canned response you got. It was 2 1/2 more months from that point for me, but you never know what it's gonna be for you, could be tomorrow you never know.
I wish you the best of luck with it!! Just remember, it doesn't mean you're going to get denied, it just means you have to be extra patient (yea it sucks!!) and it WILL come. I didn't believe it but it did. (Now I'm freakin waiting for CSC to send the dang thing to NVC. Gad they make us wait at every possible point they can and I'm really sick of it.)
You go have a good time visiting your fiance, forget about all that crap for a while and just enjoy each other as much as you can. Take pics for your interview, buy stuff in India & save your receipts, you know the spiel
