Hello all.
Just to bring you up to speed, we filed the I-751 to remove conditions on my wife's GC. We have recieved the NOA for my wifes biometrics appointment, but no NOA with an extension letter. My wifes GC has now expired, so she is out of status.

I called the customer service (service...ha ) line and they told my wife that they have 90 days in which to send out the extension letter. Or we can make an InfoPass appt. and get the I-551 stamp in her passport.

We have the appointment for tomorrow morning, but I need to know what we should bring. Of course the NOA with the Biometrics Appt., her expired GC and Passport... but what else.


Has anyone else been in this situation?
-Trying to get an I-551 stamp without an extension letter?

From looking at your timeline, when did you send in the I-751, and when did you get your original CR-Green-Card?

Timelines help understand your situation better, many file the I-751 close to the card expiration. A person does not loose LPR status unless USCIS says so. Your wife's status is still LPR.

Ok, I will fill in the time line...but still need some guidance in what I should bring with us to get the I-551 stamp.

If I were you and had this compulsion to swoop into all forums here on VJ and respond to posts within 5 to 10 minutes of their appearance, I would concentrate more on actually answering the OP's query (and doing so accurately) rather than irrelevantly beating him or her about the head re: not filling out a timeline.



You may already be on your way to your appointment, but for what it's worth, the expired GC and biometrics notice should be more than sufficient. You're obviously already in the system to some extent because you've gotten the biometrics notice.

Wow, just asked for some advice. Sorry if I was looking to put together all the paperwork for the next days appt.

I also stated I would fill out my time line, and in no way was I irrelevantly beating him or her about the head(?). It takes time to fill it out (and in doing so accurately) as you stated. I need to gather all our paperwork to fill out the dates correctly. And I couldn't do it last night, as I was trying to get information...

Thanks for your advice. For what it's worth for anybody else in my predicament, getting the stamp is probably the easiest part of this process. All that was needed was the GC, biometric appt. letter, and passport. All in all it took maybe 10 minutes. First time we got something without having to PAY for it first!

Hi Xsoldier2000, were you able to successfully get the I551 stamp on your wife's passport?

Hey eau_xplain, yes, we were successful in getting the stamp on my wifes passport. Though the stamp expires when the passport expires. But the guy said it was no problem to come back and get the stamp once we renew my wifes MX passport. (That will be another battle unto itself...)
