Ok - received the notification from our bank that the check was cashed today! Yay! My husband will be printing off a copy of both sides of the check and bringing it home from work so we can figure out where our application has ended up.

Ok - the back of the check shows the SRC prefix so that means it has been cashed in Texas. No transfer as of yet, it seems. Interesting.

When was it mailed / received?
I'm curious because we sent our package to TSC and are still waiting for the check to be cashed or to hear anything!

I do indeed, Jamieswith!
It is good to know who is in the same ballpark as you are for processing - we can keep an eye on each other's cases and hopefully use them as potential reference points for our own journey. Wishing you good luck for a speedy and easy approval, too.

Can you tell me on the back of your check where it shows the SRC prefix if it has anything else written above it? We also sent ours to Texas and my check got cashed yesterday with the TSC bank, but there it also says "VLC _ _" (two digits) above where it has our SRC # and I didn't know what the VLC meant. Well I guess the domestic spying in still in progress....
As of 10am this morning the check was not showing cashed on my account... however, I just checked this afternoon after these posts and guess what? Its showing on my account now saying it came out yesterday! And was apparently deposited on 3/11.
One odd thing though - I have the SRC number on the back, but when I try to look it up online, the system tells me that its not in the system.... odd! anyone else having that trouble?
And in response to others... I also see VLC02 written on the back of there too...

I've been doing some googling on this issue of the receipt number from the back of the check not being valid... and apparently this issue has happened before at the TSC....
Look very carefully at the letters that they send you regarding this case... if our cases follow the pattern of previous cases with this issue, some will have the number from the check on them... but you'll get at lease one with a different receipt number on - and THAT receipt number will work and allow you to track the case... keep a note of both numbers, but only one of them will be valid to check your case status.
I have no idea WHY this problem occurs, my research didnt tell me that, just that this happens sometimes... perhaps that's what the VLC means lol "Very Likely Confused" lol

Was it a different Receipt number?
Kathryn41
Mar 13 2008, 04:08 PM
From my understanding, there will be a different receipt number given with the biometrics and that will be the number that we will be able to look up. Yes, the SRC number doesn't bring any results but I wasn't expecting it to. I was waiting for the biometrics letter to give me the number that I can search for online.
There are no numbers, no stamps, no nothing on the front of the cheque other than what we put there ourselves.
On the back of the check with the cheque held longways, at the top is hand written: "SRC**********" (* are my numbers). Immediately below, also hand written is "TDB02" followed by "I-751", then a large stamp of "Mar 10, 2008."
Immediately below that are a number of stamps. The first is a number 1531 ?? 809. Stamped diagonally over top of that number making it somewhat illegible is the 7 line stamp of: "Pay to the order of Bank of America #11100000V?, For Deposit Only, DHS Citizenship & Immigration SVCS, TSO-MC 77001-0103, 377222???."
Then there is a separate 2 line stamp of "10-03-2008" and underneath, "11100000??? ".
Finally, aligned with the bottom of the cheque longways is another stamp of 3 lines: "Bank of America, 11100025 E2121 02 011, 03 10 08"
Our cheque was also on a Bank of America account.

Guys...
Part of the numbers on the back are the USCIS bank account number and part are the bank clearing house numbers and part are your bank's numbers and so on! Also, some dates are clearing house information and select recording dates as well!
Don't try to read a lot into the numbers here....
We mailed to TSC and our check was cashed about 7-10 days later in California. The front of the check had a hand-written set numbers with WAC xxx xxxxxxxxxx etc. on it which showed it had been transferred to the California Service Center. We then received our NOA with the same set of alpha-numeric letters on it. However, in 100% of the cases this tracking code CANNOT be used for anything. You will receive your Biometrics appointment letter (second NOA) and this document will have the actual track-able code on it!!!! Furthermore, the I-751 will be converted to a CRI89 code as well ......
Hope this information helps!
Good luck to all!

Richard,
Thanks for your reply, please note the following though:
1) We're not talking about the account number, or clearing house / routing numbers etc... those are printed on - that's not what we're talking about - so please don't think us to be that dumb.
2) We (like 99.99% of people) do not have anything written on the front of the cheque that we did not write there ourselves
3) We do have an INS reference number (in our case SRCXXXXXXXX since we filed in Texas, when you file in texas your number begins with SRC)
You'll excuse the confusion, but when we last filed (in the old I-130 days) the number on the back of the check WAS valid and WAS trackable... many of us are having a hard time dealing with USCIS hiding our case status from us! lol We're all impatient and want to be clicking refresh on that tracking page 10 times per day NOW!!! lol
We also want to know if our case has been transferred, since we have the SRC number which indicates Texas... but texas is so slow we really really want a transfer! lol

Hi Jamieswith:
OK .. Now I understand the confusion here. Thanks for the clarification!!! Simply put, I am understanding that NO ONE has placed any hand-written number upon the front of your check!
Hard to say what is going on now with TSC. We, like you, have filed there .. albeit back in November 2007.
As I previously noted, they (CSC) placed a handwritten number on the front of our check (that started with WAC xxxxx) once it was transferred there.
Apparently ours was just a pass through onto California and did not have a true "home stay" in Texas. It is possible that yours is staying put in Texas although I AGREE that it sure is hard to tell what the heck is going on with USCIS! My real "guess" is that with the SRC number entered on the check .. that it's a "keeper" in Texas. Considering the current abismal adjudication times with those I-751's transferred to CSC (including ours) AND recently to Vermont, I am not sure that a transfer NOW is any real benefit!!!!
We, like everyone else, are checking the status online about 456 times a day .. not 10 like you quoted! LOL!
Here's hoping that you get a Biometrics appointment with a trackable number soon....
GOOD LUCK!
It's Melvin

You have an NOA1 of 12/1/07 from CSC -- that's only 3 1/2 months ago. CSC is still processing in the 3-4 month timeframe. You will more likely than not be approved any day now.
You don't know how lucky you are. If you had filed just a few days later, you would have been transferred to VSC, where the wait would be at least double that in CSC.
