Morning, my son woke up late , I went to take him to school but they wouldn't allow him in the classroom. I guess the teacher wasn't in a good mood today, and I didn't like her attitude, so I told the teacher, "ok, but if I see an absent on his record, I'm going to talk with the principal, because he DID COME!"

Came back home, and am currently between computer and cleaning!

I haven't been checking in much lately because we were so busy ! But, we arrived safe & sound. Mina is enjoying the cool air and the sunshine. He loves the weather & the food. I will post a couple of pics here.

Randomly, does anyone know what happens next ? We went to apply for his ss card, but they said he had to be in the country 10 days before he could apply. I got him a driver's manual to study for his license. What else do we need to do ? I will check the USCIS page today and work on our resumes....

Good morning everyone! Last night was my first night back at home. Soooooo glad to be back to the daily chaos!

Found out early this morning that a close friend of my was killed yesterday in the bombing in Irag. Phillip Anderson. He was a great guy.

It's my husband's B-day today His first in the states and without family or friends (except me of course )

I'm making a roast leg of lamb and his favorite rice tonight... yummy I also managed to bake a cake yesterday before he got home from work and hide if from him - of course had to cook dinner after to cover the smell I will decorate it and wrap his present while I'm roasting the lamb. I have to leave work a few hours early for the lamb, but my boss is okay with it and I will make up the hours later Whoot!

Inshalla today will be a good day for him and he will be able to get ahold of his family to talk

There was a thread awhile back about visiting the sick in MENA countries: You are considered rude if you don't make an appearance when someone visits you, being sick is not an excuse. It's supposed to make you feel better and give you some company while your sick. I talked to the hubby about it after reading that, and he completely agrees He says you have to visit the sick, it's considered rude if you don't, and more than that it's also considered a religous obligation for Muslims.

It's not very egyptian, but he loves it

I saute thinly sliced onions and garlic in butter, and disolve this yellow seasoning he likes in chicken stock and water (sorry, don't know the name of the spice but it makes the rice a yellow color). I add the chicken stock to the onions and garlic, then add the rice and a little salt. Bring to a boil and cook like normal rice. I also add a little more butter bc he likes alot in his rice, but that's optional. Also, if I use all chicken stock and don't dilute it with water, I add more salt too.

Me and baby are just hanging out. I wish I could say I am using my unemployed time to study rocket science or find a cure for cancer or something wonderful like that but really I am just enjoying the hell out of spending long periods of time in my pajamas and playing with my daughter and experimenting with recipes I find on the Food Network. Last night I made Orzo baked with fontina and peas and it was DAMN GOOD.

Now that's what *I'm* talkin bout!!!

Amy! Heck... not just cheesecake... the guys need to bring you some meals and desserts for the rest of the week so you dont have to cook... thats an idea... pass it on

Well it is 12:30 and I just woke up. And I see most of you have all ready started your day! Hope your haveing a nice tuesday. It is my day off so I will just spend it in jammys. I'm waiting Medo to get back from Cairo. He just went and picked up his medical and police reports, then sent them to the embacy DHL... At the second interview he was told AP was done and they just needed his medical and police updated. And should hear something in 3 weeks, after they recieve them. I will not hold my breath on this one.

Tell them you are hungry and you need them to go out and get your something to eat. This will get them out of the house for a bit so you can rest and also get you something nummy to eat!

Does it really take 2 weeks from the time the Visa is issued to receipt?

Maybe DHL is different and it does take two weeks. Back when they used TNT it only took a couple days. My husband's visa was issued 4/11 and received on 4/14.

Got the results back from the lab and apparently I have hypothyroid.
My white cell levels are elevated meaning that I have some kind of infection
Everything else seemed ok.
I talked to her about the brain issue I have and she is researching it. I looked and what happened to me yesterday is a symptom of the disease so ... we'll see...

omg whenever my sister and I go for our physicals we dream of having hypothyroid because that means once you get on the meds to correct it you lose weight!!!!!! I'm glad they narrowed it down!

no, no antibiotics yet. They told me to call after lunch and I guess they meant their lunch and not mine. I called after my lunch (315pm) and they were closed for the day. Maybe they will have new info tomorrow..
