A couple of questions regarding sponsorship for a K1-visa:

1. Most people I have read about on this forum have a family member as the co-sponsor. I am coming from Holland to the Eastern US but have my best friend, who lives in California, willing to be my sponsor. Is this a problem? Or does the co-sponsor have to be a family member to my fiancée?
2. Does my fiancée have to fill in an I-134 as well, even though she's in her final year of college and unable to be my sponsor? Does she need to provide all the same paperwork as my friend?

Thanks heaps in advance!

I am coming from Holland to the Eastern US but have my best friend, who lives in California, willing to be my sponsor. Is this a problem? Or does the co-sponsor have to be a family member to my fiancée? I think the only requirement is that the cosponsor be a USC or LPR and meets the guidelines for their dependents plus the immigrant. I don't think they have to be related to the petitioner.

2. Does my fiancée have to fill in an I-134 as well, even though she's in her final year of college and unable to be my sponsor? Does she need to provide all the same paperwork as my friend? Your fiancee would have to fill out a I-134 since she is the primary sponsor.

Thanks heaps in advance!

No, the co-sponsor will be any person who is permanent resident or US citizen.

In our case we used a co-sponsor and my fiance didn't file another I-134, he only attach his employment letter (he didn't have previous income tax). But in your case, your fiancee will write a letter where she explains that she wasn't working because she was/is a full time student, and attach avidence (school records). And, if she had previous income tax she can attach them if they would be necesaries

Thanks heaps in advance!

YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR FIANCE FILL OUT AN I-134. IT TAKES 5 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE FORM AND THEN HAVE A BANK NOTARIZE IT.
