Hey guys
Just wanted some input here for my situation.
I called NVC last night and my petition is on it's way to Montreal! YAY!
I'm tracking it using DHL....anyway.
I expect to be getting package 3 within the next 2 weeks or so....
I'll be turning 27 on May 19th and I'm hoping to get out of having to get the Gardasil shot (ages 11 to 26)
So I'm wondering, when would be a good time to send back package 3?
Beginning of April?
Going by Liz's chart thingy that she makes, they are booking interviews about a month and a half to 2 months after sending package 3 back.
Do you think this will give me enough time?
Also, package 4, is that when you know your actual interview date?
I want to book my medical as close to the interview as possible...and I know I can't do that until I have the appointment letter thing.
Thanks!
Krikit

Yes, Package 4 is your interview date. I don't dare to guesstimate when a good time to return Package 3 will be. You're on your own there.

How long does it usually take to get a medical?? 2 weeks? They were booking them less than a week in advance when I went. In fact, one place wanted me to come in the next day. Are you going to London or Toronto? You could always give them a call and ask if there's any wait time.

Packet 4 will be your interview date and you can request your inteview to be after a certain day.. for me, i said "first available date after feb 7, 2008" and they gave me the first monday after it. You dont even have to wait for packet4 to arrive.. 2 days after faxing back my packet3 i emailed the consulate and requested to know what my interview date was because "we needed to make travel arrangements" .... we really just wanted to know

As for the vaccination, im not sure about it.. technically if you turn 27 after your medical but before the interview date... i dont think they can say "no.. you gotta get it". I think that may be a good question to ask the doctor when you call to book the appointment.

When do I request the interview? When I send back package 3???
I'll just say "First available interview after May 19th?"
I sent an email to Seiden asking how far in advance they are booking medicals...
I won't hear anything from them till tomorrow I'm assuming.

On Packet3, after the checklist theres a page where you have to sign and fill out some of your information then theres a spot where it asks you when you to list preferred dates for the interview and you just write in your request of "first available after may 19" and that should work fine... but MTL has killer long wait times so you might want to request for an earlier date before your bday and try to optimize your time lol.
Why dont you just call the doctor on monday instead of emailing?

Hmm.. you could try first day after april 25

that gives you an extra 2 days for that weekend of 26 and 27... then it gives you almost a month of cheated time lol.. and if they end up giving an early date.. you can always push it back by a week or 2.. its better than waiting ANOTHER 1.5 months.. especially when all of this has already taken farrrrrrrrrrrr far too long.. oh wait.. you're vermont.. you lucky SOB!!! hahah, vermont is so quick compared to CSC

When I was booking my medical, they were really busy and only had appointments a month from then....
you do know that you have 6 months (I think) to activate your visa right from when you get it??
I'd rather use that time to postpone having to move than postponing sending your P3 back in..

Yes, Liz, I understand this but I don't want to have my medical before my 27th birthday, I'm afraid they will make me get the Gardasil vaccine. I turn 27 in May.
I'm confused as to what to do
Send it in right away or wait a few weeks
David_n_Amber
Mar 9 2008, 02:28 PM
you would request and early date because the waitlist is soooooooooooooo long

Well, the vaccines are not a requirement to get your K-1 Visa. They are in preparation for AOS. So....if, at the time you file for AOS, you are 27...it will not be a required vaccine for you anymore. If I'm wrong someone correct me

As for packet 3, send it back as soon as you can! You can wait to move until after you are 27 if that makes you feel better, but as long as you get your I693A filled out and file AOS after you turn 27 you won't need the vaccine.

well, your file just left NVC for montreal... so you probably will only get your packet 3 at the end of march at the earliest...
so if you send it back mid april... you should have an interview for june sometime I think (not guaranteed obviously)..
so don't stress!

Liz ! no way !
If you look at the stats, the more recent cases got their packet 3 quite soon (like 2 weeks) !
I am thinking along the same line as Laura.... our dates might be fastest than what we were expecting ! (and this for the best)
also i am blonde.... kinda....lol
anyway.....let see ! (i want to be right

(check david n amber timeline... it's kickass !)

I think Vancouver lets you request an interview date, but I don't think Montreal does. I requested a later date when I sent my Packet 3 in and they pretty much ignored my request. I emailed them and asked again. They said they could cancel my current date and put me back at the end of the line to get a new date which they said would be in 4 to 6 months. I know it's a little faster now, but I kept my original date.
If I was you I'd send the package back a little later or look into the idea that you don't need your vaccines until AOS.

Vaccinations are a requirement at the Canadian Consulates.

Exactly. I don't want to have to worry about rescheduling and being put on the end of the list.
I'm going to delay a bit in sending back package 3...
I don't mind if I wait another month or so, it's just a month..that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I'm saving myself money and worry too.
Thanks guys!!!!

It's taking about a week to book medicals

I'm going to email Vancouver just to double check that Crikey! It's not that I don't believe you, it just doesn't make sense to me as they're not required for K1's coming from the Philippines and China for instance. I'm in the same situation as Laura, so I guess we shall see. I'll let youknow when I know!
I wish they were booking medicals in a week here. It's looking like 3 weeks at the least!

When does anything make sense? lol Vancouver hands out the visa next day, while Mtl mails them out!! And even the two consulates differ on paperwork requirements!!! crazy stuff!! hope u get it all sorted out. Personally i would want the answer in an email for proof, that way you could take it to the interview!! Best of luck

Sweetie,
Ok, breathe in and then out. Grab a cup of coffee and a ciggie (oh shite, you don't smoke, oh well... ). Question from the uninformed: what is so bad about getting the said vaccine? My take babe, for you to be sooner with Nick is to just send the packet 3 as soon as you can, and place yourself in the waiting list; which we all know in MTL's case is long and painful. You might not even need the darn thing when time comes, or maybe you will, case in which you go get it and that's that. That's MY opinion because I know you are in so much pain being far away from the guy we call Nick. But then again, I am crazy. Just my 2 cents sister

Vancouver is the only one, that lets you request an interview date..Montreal does not.. and as Flames said Vancouver allows you to pick up the Visa the next day..Montreal mails it taking anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to receive it..Vancouver asks that you FAX the checklist back, with Montreal you must MAIL it back....
Montreal is moving along pretty good right now, but things could change in the blink of an eye.. I believe it was this time last year that things really slowed down and people were made to wait the full 4 to 6 months for their interviews.. we are K-3 and had to wait 5 months..so dont count on Montreal to be consistent...
I would get the checklist back ASAP..you can still check things off the checklist even if you dont have them in your hands.. we got the passport pics taken a month after we sent the checklist and did the medical 2 months after the checklist was sent..
best of luck to all of you waiting for Montreal!

Thanks everyone!!!
I'll just wait it out and see when I get package 3 and go from there.
My package is in Montreal.
To answer my dear Sis Len, I don't like the thought of the vaccine, it's very expensive, controversial and I just plain don't want it!
Wait times aren't that long anymore for interviews..people have gotten an interview at Montreal in just over a month recently....I'll be cutting it quite close.
We'll see.
Thanks again dudes!!!

there are several people that have listed everything requested from Montreal or have actually scanned the checklist already... play around with the search feature and some of them should come up...
heres one that I still had in my favorites...hope it helps (in post 7 Lance27, he was a K-3, links you to the checklist he scanned)
