In theory, if you check yes to that, you should receive your SS card automatically in the mail. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Personally we checked off 'no' and we will go to the SS office to apply for my Husband's number.

the yes box will give DHS permission to forward your info right away to the SS administration office thats a reason why they have all your info automaticialy in the save system at the SS office and you can apply 2 weeks after entry on K1 , they will have all the info you gave when you aplied for k1 ,
( I went after I got married so the name didnt match and they had to send a request of status to DHS wich took 6 weeks to confirm)
only people who applied for spouse visa where they get the GC right away will also have a strong possibility to have theyr SS card send in mail few weeks after entry

Hey Charlene, do you mind if I ask where you live? I've been waiting for my Packet 3 from Vancouver since February 28th and I haven't gotten it yet. I see that you received yours two days after your file got to Vancouver. I know that your case is a lot different than mine, but I'm wondering if my Packet 3 has been lost or just not sent!

I think I might call them on Monday!

yup I would click yes , ( K1 visa will not get the SSN mailed you have to go apply in person ,
but once you go at least they got all the info already in save system and depands where you live
I would go before marriage some offices give good grieve if you apply after marriage ,( as it was in my case , had to have DHS confirm my status, cose name after marriage was differant then on K1 or I 94 )
but like I said that depands on the office , many here got aproved with marriage name even though name was differant then on k1
