Hello All,

My wife arrived in the US from the Philippines in 2005 on a K3 visa. One of the things she forgot to bring was a transcript of her grades/classes from her college in the Philippines. She now has a need for the transcript as she would like to go back to college in the US. Has anyone gotten a transcript of their grades from a Phil college while living in the US? We understand that this can be a challenge to do and might require a trip back to the college in the Philippines. Also my wife graduated in the late 80's so the records may be old. Have tried calling the college but all phone numbers tried have not worked.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

I arrived here in US last year,and i also forgot to bring my school credentials, because it takes months to process.Right now I am asking the help of my friends to follow up my completion form.My advice is if your wife has a family or friends in PI, maybe they can help to gather the school documents.Where in the Philippines, did your wife graduated from college?What school?try to search the school in the internet if they have a site.

From my own personal experience, I would say it is next to impossible to get a Philippine collge/university to send you transcripts via mail. There is just too much BS beaurocracy involved for things like that in the Philippines. Your best bet would be to have a family member of hers go there in person. She will most likley need to have a letter of authorization from your wife as well as both your wife's and their NSO BC, and probably 1 other form of ID. (yeah, I know it sounds weird, but the auth letter is not enough, you almost always also need the authorizing person's ID)

in my school, Xavier U (ateneo de cag.) they do allow family/friends to get their transcript or diploma in behalf of the student. but providing a certain ID and a letter. im not sure in the other schools but before when i helped a friend, the registrar asked me about my friends ID and letter, and of course my ID... good luck!
or you can go the school website and get their info such as email and phone # to inquire these requirements... knowing what ive experienced there's a certain process before i could even ask for my transcript...

I just currently finished processing the request for my Official Transcript of Records from the university that I've attended in the Philippines online. I just searched for the school's web site and sent an email to the registrar's office requesting for the release of my OTR. However, they advised me to have an authorized representative (parents, siblings, relatives) to transact business with them since there are fees that need to be paid and such. Then I replied back informing them that I will be willing to pay the fees by issuing money order or wiring money to them since I want to spare my family from the hassle of traveling so far only for that said purpose. Luckily, the staff from the registrar's office told me that I can just scan a request form with my signature and email it to them and send the money through XOOM and they will process and mail the OTR to me. Yesterday, I was informed that the OTR was on its way and they sent it through the local post (registered mail) and will arrive in approximately 2 weeks . So, now I am just awaiting for its arrival in the mail. Hope this info helps.

I found out that colleges in the US won't accept transcripts directly from the student. You have to use a third party such as World Educational Services to obtain the student's transcript and determine what courses are transferable for credit. It costs 160 dollars for them to go through each course. I'm planning on sending in the application form for my stepdaughter who was taking computer engineering in the Philippines, even though she brought her transcripts with her when she came to the US.

I do agree, just had my application for evaluation with WES and for additional info after the online application you need to submit the copy of the college diploma and I also submitted the copy of my marriage certificate since I am now using my married name. Also, in my case i just emailed the request for the release of my OTR to WES for the completion of the evaluation. The total fee is 160 for the comprehensive evaluation plus the $5 mailing fee for ordinary mail.

I had my transcript and diploma authenticated by the Malacanang and DFA with the so called "red-ribbon" so as to make sure that the authenticity is undisputable in the future. If the US do not honor this, I am planning to get affiliations. Is this the same as the World Educational Services? I graduated as BS in Psychology and had 36 masteral units of Clinical Psychology. Any help would be much appreciated.

You can authorize someone to pickup or get your transcripts from the school. I did that for my wife and had no problems with it. Just present a authorization letter and provide immediate info to the school like ID number, year of graduation or something so that they can easily process your request.

I also believe that there is a certification body in the U.S. that can evaluate your grades during your college days. I forgot the name but my wife like contacted them and asked them to evaluate her grades. They'll get back to you with the results if you need to take additional units or if it's equivalent to the actual units needed for a college diploma in the U.S.

You can also take the GED exams. It's equivalent to the PEP test here in the Philippines.
