I have my interview in Montreal on March 19th and I'm trying to book my return trip (to Toronto). How long can I expect to stay in at the consulate, i.e. what time should I pick for my return trip?
*Len*
Depends a lot on what time you show up. We were there waaaay early (sh1t, can't remember exaclty what time), and where done by 10 a.m. First come, first served. give yourself time so you don't loose that bus sister!!!!

Our interview said 8:30 AM, but of course we arrived before the consulate opened, around 7:15.

We were done around 11...it was busy little morning. Could probably be safe with Noon and after depending on how far it is.

Yours is scheduled for the morning?

My interview was at 8:30...Got there around 7:15'ish, was out of the embassy by 9:45'ish. Just depends when you get in, as it is first come, first serve.

My wife and I were at the embassy extremely early, second in line, and we were there until after 12:00. I'd make it later just to be safe and so you're not getting nervous at the Consulate about missing your ride smile.gif Good luck!

All my paper work was given at 8:15 and I was out of there around 9. The actual interview was no more than 5 minutes

I was there early and second in line. I was out by 11 and I caught the Greyhound at 12 or 1...I don't remember.

In the end you don't have to worry. Just get there as soon as you can and catch the next bus. You don't book your ticket by what time you'll catch the bus so don't worry.

Mine was for the CR-1.
We were first in line and were out by 9:10.

I had my K-1 interview in Montreal as well (also from Toronto) - got there bright and early at 6:45am to be first in line. When they opened the doors at 7:30am, I got letter A and was guaranteed to do everything first. I would highly recommend this b/c you don't have to wait for anyone in front of you!! Depending on your situation and your paperwork, it might take longer. My case was pretty cut and dry (I'm Canadian born, never married - my fiance is American - no complications) - so they didn't take long to review my paperwork. The interview for us (my fiance was there) took 5-10 mins max! We were out by 9:30am. But it doesn't hurt to book the later bus in the afternoon just to give you time to relax, eat, etc. After all the stress of the morning leading up to the interview - you'll definetly want to take time to breathe!

Good luck! good.gif

I was there at 7:15am, and out by 11:30am.... I booked my flight back to Vanc for 5pm, and I sat around the airport bored out of my mind! I would've booked an earlier flight if I could've.

I was in at 8:00 and I was out at 1:00...of course I was missing a form and had to go to a business centre back at my hotel to print it out on the internet.

Good point from Sprailenes!! Include some "fudge" time!! I have read on here of a few members forgetting paperwork, or requiring a new police form, thus making the mad dash to the closest RCMP detachment in Mtl!! And there have been a few times over the years, that Mtl computers have gone down, slowing things!!

Thanks everyone!

I've booked a 3:30 return trip and hopefully if I'm done really early, I can switch my ticket to an earlier bus. If not, I'll just find myself a nice bakery or coffeeshop and kill time until 3:30.

Next question: Is there a good list anywhere of everything I need to bring, to make sure I'm not forgetting anything?

We arrived at 7:00, were second in line. We were finished and out on the street at 9:15. Best advice is to get there early. There were a lot of people in the waiting area when we left and more people lined up outside. There's a nice Second Cup on Square Phillipe to chill afterwards! Because you need to do that after the whirlwind of preparation and the stress of the interview. At least I did!
