Full Version: Waleed's being deployed to the Eastern Desert
VisaJourney.com > General Discussion Area > Regional Discussion > Middle East and North Africa

Olivia*
I have no idea what is going on with the visas for Waleed because I can't get a reply from the Consular except that we're in Administrative Processing. I don't know how that is possible when we haven't even had an interview.

Waleed did send me a text msg about how he can meet me Thursday but it is impossible for me to meet him because I have two midterms that day and then I leave for Spring Break. It is just poor timing.

I do know he is being deployed next week to the eastern desert close to the Suez canal by Sinai for a year. He'll spend a year in the desert. It's really unfortunate I won't get to talk with him before he goes.

In other news I made the Honor Roll, the Dean's List, and the National Honor Society. They are having two award ceremony's for me one in March for the National Honor Society and one in April for the Honor Convection. I am sure I am not the only one being awarded at these ceremony's.

Waleed's sister, Ghada, and he Husband and two daughters leave back to Egypt from Baltimore at the end of the month.

rose.gif Sorry for yours and your husband's situation. May God give you patience.

Congrats on the academic honors! That's wonderful!

Thx. Two corrections. Suez City not Suez Canal. And the other is Honors Convocation not Convection. Man this cold is kicking my rear end. Two midterms to go and then it's sunny Mexico!

i hope you will feel better soon.

Stupid embassies...they can't put u in AP without the interview. What are they really doing behind closed doors there? Seriously!!! I agree with the girls that u should contact ur rep (when u get the chance) and see just what has happened. U definitely need answers to this one.

MABROOKULATIONS on the academic honors! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO kicking.gif U're awesome! (i was lucky to get honors in attendance let alone academics LOL whistling.gif )

That royally sucks that u can't see him before he leaves. Insha'Allah u will be given the gift of patience and the time will fly for you during this wait. {{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Yeah one prof is letting me post-pone the midterm to finals time because of my severe cold so just one to go at 12:30 which gives me a little time to chat with Waleed. I saw another correction...(Ghada and her* Husband). Sheesh...being sick sucks.

I don't think there is some conspiracy going on I think I just got a "canned" msg from the consulars office. I'll call DOS to verify if we're in AP or what when I figure out how to do that since I've never done it before. Anyone got the number? Think they'll answer my other questions or do I have to keep sending the email to the consulars who don't reply?

You are in my thoughts, hang in there, one day this will be a faded memory. Congratulation's on your studies, that is hard to do, being under all the pressure from Visa business.

I got to talk with Waleed! I learned there will be 40 soldiers in his unit living in tents in the camp in the desert. He is like a recruited military doctor to be in the middle of the rural desert. Out of 800 doctors collected in that boot camp he is the only one being sent to this area. They will send patrols of 8-10 men sometimes in which he will have to participate once each month. It's mostly to contain the boarder between Egypt and Israel which his unit is the main one responsible for that. The boarder issue is dangerous right now and he said there are building there he may go into and they could just collapse on him.

I don't know if I can handle my younger brother, Oz, in Iraq right now for the Marines and my Husband on the boarder of Egypt and Israel for the Egyptian military. If this is a test then God you win. Have mercy & bring them both home safely.

Oh also I got a long call from Waleed yesterday and one short "I love you send off" to Mexico this morning which was very nice. It was sort of bitter sweet because neither of us know when we will be in touch again with him going to the middle of the desert and not knowing what sort of schedule he will have for time off. If they give time off?

He would be back at the military camp by now and his unit is supposed to leave for Suez City within the week. He also said he has an official letter from the military stating he gets out on March 1, 2009 with the option of two additional months of service at the end so it could be May 1, 2009 that he gets out. At least he has that letter telling us some sort of end to these struggles is in site.

I find it ironic that his military service might end in May 2009 the same time I am graduating from college. Maybe there is some sort of divine plan involved? unsure.gif

While on the bus I had some time to consider options for the visa process since obviously he isn't going to be making the I-129F interview. (What a waste of money that was.) I think since we are having the time I'm going to switch to the CR-1 and request the I-130 be sent to the NVC.

Does anyone know the appropriate channels to who I would have to contact to go ahead and notify about the switch because of the delay with the military situation? Should I cancel the I-129F first? After that then should I call the USCIS and request them to send the I-130 to the NVC? I'm not sure how to go about preparing the next steps.

Tomorrow we fly out to San Diego and stay in a hotel till the next day when we get on the cruise. We're staying in the Hyatt right on the Bay. I've never been to San Diego but I am looking forward to the sun and the ocean. If there is internet around I'm sure I'll be on it checking in with ya'll.
