Full Version: What pages to print for tax transcript info?
VisaJourney.com > US CIS and Dept of State Offices > National Visa Center (Dept of State)

I do my taxes on turbotax.com, and have access to the past 3 years returns. Each return has about 16 pages, so which of these pages do I need to make sure i print off. Just the form 1040, or do i need all the schedules, and itemization forms too?

Thanks in advance. good.gif

Only 1040 and you have to send W-2`s with them.
Marlita
oh thanks so much, I think I have my W-2's still, if not I'll go ahead an request these with the IRS. I get W-2's the same way i get tax transcripts right?
YuAndDan
That is not a transcript, that is a return (1040) NOTE if using a return you will also need to attach W2, and any 1099s to prove the numbers on the 1040.

Transcripts can be ordered for free from the IRS, just the simple ones are needed.

You can also call the IRS and ask for tax transcripts for the years you need.

I suggest to order Tax Transcripts for the past 3 years from IRS. It takes them 3 to 5 business days to mail it out. Its really concise and more proven than the W2 and 1040 forms. By having the tax transcripts, you dont need all those forms on 1040 and W2.
Marlita
Oh, now I see. The "transcript' that I get from ordering includes everything I will need, but if i print online at Turbotax, i will ALSO need to provide W-2's?

Ok I will go order my transcripts today. thanks for the clarification guys! wink.gif

The transcript can be ordered by completing a Form 4506-T (PDF) or calling (800) 829-1040 and following the prompts in the recorded message. There is no charge for the transcript and you should receive it in 10 business days from the time we receive your request. Tax return transcripts are generally available for the current and past three years. If you need a statement of your tax account which shows changes that you or the IRS made after the original return was filed, you must request a "Tax Account Transcript". This transcript shows basic data including marital status, type of return filed, adjusted gross income, taxable income, payments and adjustments made on your account. Tax return and account transcripts are generally available for the current and past 3 years.
