My husband and I had our interview in Chicago on 1/28/08. The officer approved the case, but then made it pending as our lawyer requested some proof to his words(he was ready to take away my I-94 and EAD and leave me with nothing, but his word), he made our case pending. I didn't apply for AP as my lawyer said it may weaken our case if deportation process has to take place. I entered on J-1. My question is where can I travel to non-continental US right now, can I go to US Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Puerto Rico? Does anyone know anything about risk of using AP if case is technically pending?
Thank you so much in advance.

FAQ: 5.12)...Is it okay for us to go to the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico on our honeymoon without Advance Parole?

Hawaii is a STATE, so there is absolutely no problem traveling there.

I figured I could go to Hawaii, but heard it was not a good idea to go outside of continental US, Hawaii is not continental even though it's US state, wasn't sure. Thank you SO much!

I just got back from the U.S. Virgin Islands.
No AP, no nothin'.
I showed my Canadian passport with the K1 Visa stuck in it, and that was that.
We had a great customs check-in person.

No problemo!!
