I have to change my SO's address before it leaves NVC so I'm gonna call everyday.

I do hope CSC sends NVC our docs soon and we don't have to wait much longer!!!

You know,I heared that when you let NVC know about changing of address it will take more longer to process your petition...A few months longer...
Just dont want your being delay...

OMG, are you serious??? No, I don't want to delay the processing.
So should I email the embassy in Barbados to do the beneficiary's address change there? I guess I can change it from there?

Thanks for the heads up, applewow.
Meridien
I tried the DHL trick, and it looks like a package left for Vancouver on Mar 7th, arriving on Mar 10th. I'm going to assume mine was in that package! I'm hoping Packet 3 will be in my mailbox any day now. I've got form DS-230 all ready go. That was no picnic, by the way - trying to remember all of the times I've been to the US! As with many Canadians, I've been there dozens of times...

Hurry up with packet 3!!!
applewow
Luciansgirl, yes, I heard that few people had a NVC delay in similar russian forum...
I would't try it,I better go to consulate and get the papers I need from there and ask them to
send me email...

Maybe somebody else can say for sure...
SonoranSongbird
I think I'd try emailing the consulate either way, Lucian's Girl. Just in case NVC does not make the correction!

Meridien, my fiance scarily enough is able to remember every trip he took to the US. I can't remember where I put my car keys 5 minutes ago but he can remember which weekend he drove to Great Falls, Montana, in 1976. I grew up along the border. Even if I could remember every trip I ever took to Canada, I'd have to kill off a few old growth forests to print out a complete list of them.
LuciansGirl
Thanks Applewow and Sonoran. smile.gif

I'll wait till the embassy in Barbados has our file. As of now, NVC has not received our docs yet and I don't want to risk delaying anything.

I'll email Barbados to change my SO's mailing address once they receive it. I read threads here that the beneficiary's address only matters at that stage so s/he can receive packets 3 and 4.

That's true too, lucy4! biggrin.gif LOL Isn't your fiance still waiting for packet 3 even after getting his visa? The Caribbean mail system (or lack thereof) is crazy....

I'll email Barbados and get his addy changed and also ask if I can submit the packet 3 requirements to them by email since the mail is super slow, hopefully they allow it (they wouldn't for Iriecat).

How does this whole NVC thing work? Do I need to call them? We got our NOA2 last Friday.
RyaNRiza
I think I will hold off calling again until middle of next week. Someone else told me that I need to wait 2-4 weeks, and she actually scoffed when I told her that the notice date was 03/11. So, I'm going to wait.

Congratulations on the NOA2!

You can call them at 603-334-0700. They will need your receipt number from USCIS and at least your fiance's name and birthdate (I think they may ask for both). It usually takes at least a week from California, but Vermont may be faster. It's easiest to get through after 10 pm Eastern Time. Most people have said they were polite, even if their petition wasn't there yet, but a few have been having some problems. Unfortunately, there is no way to check it online or using an automated phone system.

You can also just wait for the letter. They will send you a letter letting you know they have finished with your petition and sent it on to the consulate. That should give you both their case number and the address of the consulate. Once your petition gets to NVC, they are very quick with it. Anywhere from two days to a week from the timelines I've seen.

Hi de ho everyone!

NVC received our paperwork on March 11th.. and claim to have sent it to the London Embassy on March 13th.. It's now March 21st and I've still not had a letter from NVC saying that it's even been sent out to London and whenever I ring the London Embassy they say it's not on their system as of yet. Whether they've actually received it I've no idea!

Is this normal?

Hey Halle!
I am in the same situation than yours. NVC told us they sent our package to US embassy in Paris on March, 10th, and we still haven't received any letter from them... blink.gif
Hopefully it will be here pretty soon. I heard though that the letter was just giving a number and the address of the Embassy where the papers had been sent... Nothing really useful, but I would feel much better getting this letter!

Received the NVC letter today! Looks like it took a nice long trip from Portsmouth, NH to Frankfurt Germany then here to England! Might explain the delay, as the letter was dated the 14th of March! Woohoo! I feel good having it, it just confirms what is being verbally said I suppose. Now the wait for Packet 3..

Ok, what I have read from the london.usembassy.gov website is that (obviously this might vary from whatever Consulate you're using but this is what it says of mine) :

The biographic data form DS-230-I (in packet 3) should be completed for each person applying for a visa, regardless of age. The form may be photocopied if insufficient copies are received for each family member. The DS-230-I should be COMPLETED and RETURNED IMMEDIATELY to where ever your Embassy is that you are going through. Failure to return the DS-230-I promptly will delay the processing of the application. At the same time, please complete and return the form DS-156 and DS-156K and DS-157 if applicable. Note: Please do not sign the DS-156 or DS-156K. The forms must be signed before a consular officer on the day of the visa interview.

Again, I'm not sure if this is the same for every Consulate.. so please check yours! Good luck!

Halle

SonoranSongbird
It varies by consulate. Vancouver asks you to fax back to them the first part of DS-230 as well as the checklist they send. Everything else you bring with you to the interview. This is different from what Halle posted about London, except that they too want the part I of DS-230 asap. There should be instructions in packet 3 telling you exactly what needs to be sent to the consulate (and how--fax or mail) and what needs to be brought to the interview.

As for the best way to contact your consulate, check the embassy info or embassy reviews section or ask on the regional forum. You might be able to find scanned copies of the packet 3 checklists there--this is how I know what is going to be in our packet 3.
applewow
Oh...Thank you guys...
We will find out...
Today I got reply from us embassy in Tashkent

,,Our office has recieved your approved I-130 petition. Your interview is
scheduled for April 22 at 8 a.m.
Please find attached the list of required documents for the interview. ,,

Strange...We filed I129F,not I-130...

I hope they mistyped...and didnt mean somebody else...

The reason why I asked about packet 3 is because I am in South Korea now,and planing to fly back to Tashkent on 8 of April...So,I just wanted to make sure that I will have a time to send them back everything they need,go and pass interview and move on with my life and go and get married to a man who I love to death...

Ryan, congratulations! And yes, trust me, she DOES want to know immediately!! Haha, I check my email and home answering machine for a message from my fiance letting me know he got packet 3.

Applewow, that sounds like it IS your packet 3. Probably one of those will give you instructions---maybe they want you to send one of the forms back (like the DS-230) or maybe they just want you to bring all of it to the interview. Since they gave you an interview date, I'd guess it's that, but check.

I wish Vancouver emailed us packet 3. We'd probably already have it by now.

That's wonderful!! You guys are getting there....I'm so excited for you! smile.gif

I'm just waiting for NVC to send our docs to Barbados....then another long wait for packet 3 since the mail system in the caribbean is pretty slow....talk about island time!! LOL biggrin.gif

Good to hear they received your case at NVC, Ryan.

And applewow....good luck on the upcoming interview!!
SonoranSongbird
Heh--we have a friend who lived for two years on Grand Cayman Island (we became a couple while visiting her there) and she always complained about how slowly things moved down there. I haven't heard that phrase "island time" since she got back to Canada.

It's too bad they don't send it via email like Applewow's consulate. I don't even know why Vancouver doesn't do that---the forms are not included in the package he got; they want us to fill them out on line in Adobe Acrobat anyway. He just got a letter, the checklist, a list of doctors, and instructions for the medical. There is only one form in the package---the OF-167---that is not available on line (I just have to sign it). That could easily be included as a pdf attachment in an email.

Oh well, at this point I can hardly complain. We're planning a vacation on Vancouver Island after our interview, and the later in spring it is, the more likely we will be to see the sun for at least a few days of our vacation, so we are really not in a huge hurry at this point.

Is it too soon for us to call NVC? And I beleive the beneficiary can call? m is out of reach in the cascades right now - the lucky so and so.

The USC needs to call. You should give them about 2 weeks and 1 day. That's how long it took me, and looking at others timelines, it seems to be fairly standard.

LuciansGirl
Ryan and Eli,

I called NVC last night and found out that our case has gone out on 3/25/08....so it was only there for a day!! I tracked it on DHL and it's actually going out today so the Embassy in Barbados should get it today or tomorrow. Eli, you can call everyday if you wish but it took 2 weeks for NVC to receive our case from CSC. whistling.gif

Now I thought it was also okay for the beneficiary to call NVC...only USCIS requires that the petitioner call for any inquiries?? Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

Sonoran....I'm gonna try lucy4's approach and email Barbados the packet 3 contents to them by next week, hopefully it works and they can schedule my SO's interview if they accept the pdf copies...we're sending originals w/wet signatures by DHL. If we rely on the mail system there, we can wait as long as 3 weeks for packet 3 to arrive by snail mail. LOL!!! smile.gif Good luck with you guys!!!

Do call NVC and get your case #. They can tell you the date your case went out to the Embassy and you can use that date to search it on DHL by reference (it asks for a date range so it's helpful to know when it left NVC).

That's awesome. I hope mine is only in the system for 1 day. biggrin.gif wink.gif however I anticipate it to go out tomorrow or Monday. That seems to be fairly typical.

hey all!

it's me again! whistling.gif

ok. well we've received the hardcopy of the noa2 thing.

do we now just wait? and sorry for being a dimbo, but what receipt number do we have to use to call nvc when we do try?

or should we just wait until they contact us? that's the procedure right? nvc sends a letter stating our case has been sent to the embassy?

we don't actually mind this part of the waiting. tongue_ss.gif

basically, do we just sit and wait now or do we stalk folk?

When you call NVC to see if your case is there, use the WAC# from USCIS. If it's there, they'll ask for the beneficiary name, DOB, and the petitioner's phone number and they'll give you a new case #. And you're right, NVC will send a letter out once it is en route to the embassy. You can either sit and wait or stalk. LOL!!! biggrin.gif
Good luck, roselinda!!

Fiance's medical is set for April 7th, woohoo! This is moving super quick now!

Seeing that it's now moving - it's just dawned on me how much we actually need to get done before we leave! Pack the house, sale/give away all electricals, ship the cats, sale the car, etc. !! We set the nuptials for August 2nd in Texas thinking it would take at least until the end of June for this to all be done with, leave mid July then get married at the beginning of August.. perhaps it will be sooner! We shall see!
