It looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Congratulations to CBR. Things are moving - it'll go great for you - smooth sailing from here on out. Good to hear everyone is moving through to the next stage.
Jeraly
AUDREY!!!! How are things now Phil is there?!?!?!? Have missed you!!!!!
a-jeanne
He's loving it! We're getting ready to close on the house and I have the whole kitchen remodel started. Whew. It's going to be a grand kitchen. We should be able to move in end of July. The deck is his to design. We have plotted out the garden area and will be starting on that shortly - if it ever quits snowing!

We had a wonderful first weekend alone and last week he watched one of my girls with strep throat and this week, he's watching the other with the flu. He's a wonderful wonderful man and has taken care of all of us. We're very happy.

Now it's on to the AOS process which I am very confused about. What to file and how much money? wacko.gif
*julez*
Glad to hear things are in full swing for you Audrey! We are bidding on a house this week! So exciting!!

Fret not over the AOS. There are a few forms to fill out and the total fee is $1,010. If you read the AOS guide here on VJ you will get through it without any problem! Griff had his biometrics last week and we've already been transferred to CSC, so now we simply wait for approvals!!

Its nice to see you!! Don't be such a stranger!!
a-jeanne
Thanks and good luck on the bid for your house. That's great news.

I checked the guides and I couldn't find anywhere the fee. What is with the biometrics? For him or for me? I thought the interview was all he had. Hmmm - I guess I have to go back and read them again. Do you do this before you can get married? Sorry, I'm just a bit lost - I'm still on cloud 9.

Sounds like you're on your way. Congratulations.

First, AOS is started once you are married. You need your marriage certificate for it. And yet more passport style photos!!!

Biometrics is for Phil - he will have to go to the nearest USCIS office to you and have his fingerprints taken (again!!), they'll take a photo of him and have him sign a form. The cost ($80) is included in the AOS fee of $1,010.

You guys may or may not be subjected to an AOS interview. Its roughly 50/50 chance. If your case is transferred to CSC you'll likly be approved without an interview.

Don't forget to take Phil to apply for his SS# once he's been here for 2 weeks. Bring his birth cert and passort and the completed form which you can get from SS online.

Its really not that complicated. I just printed off the guides and checked things off the list as we completed them. I found it easier than the K1!
a-jeanne
Do you have a link for the checklist? I would appreciate that.
*julez*
I just followed the guides:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

I just printed them out and checked off as I went along.

One other key piece is the I-693A form - for vaccinations. If the docs at Knightsbridge gave Phil a completed vaccination form, I have heard that can be included in the packet in lieu of the I-693A. Griff needed on jab once he got here as the UK would not give him a Tetanus shot since he'd received his "lifetime limit" of 5. We had to take the I-693A to a local civil surgeon for completion, which cost $40 (though the price can vary significantly). The shot itself was another $45. UGH! It really adds up!

As I think of other tidbits that might be helpful to know, I will pass them along to you. I think I've metioned the most significant stuff.

If you ever have any questions, though, just ask! In PM or the AOS forum, which has been invaluable to me!
a-jeanne
Thank you so much!

I know how you feel - I just wanted it all done and out of the way, even though I knew I still had a wait... now I keep thinking I should be doing more but...
rae_and_scott
Nah, enjoy the fact that everything is all done! That way you don't have to stress about visa details in your last couple months and can just spend quality time with the people there before you leave. smile.gif

Thanks Rob. I am hoping every day we get our date so I can have something concrete to focus on.
Jeraly
Yeah - it's just things like selling my stuff, packing... I don't know - part of me wants it all to just magic itself into boxes and for some of it to just disappear, leaving behind only a small pile of cash biggrin.gif

Sorry I've been absent for a while but just haven't had much of anything to talk about.

You may recall that I was in a bit of a jam 'cause when we got NOA2 I went ahead and "guessed" how long it should take for the rest of the process (based on a lot of reading here). I booked my ticket to Thailand for May 29th and I booked our tickets into the US from Bangkok for June 13th feeling quite sure that I'd left plenty of time and that she should have the visa in hand no problem...

So we send all the stuff into the Embassy the first week of March and at the end of March we get packet 4 with the interview date JULY 11th.

I e-mail and e-mail and finally get an answer that they normally don't reschedual intreviews but that he'd send my request up to the officer... well a few more weeks go by and I don't hear anything back from anyone. I'm sorry but my workplace doesn't deal well with last minute requests for a month off so I've got to make plans right. I send in another e-mail and tell them "not to change anything" and that I'll rebook everything.

So today I'm looking at the Thailand group and somebody who got NOA2 three days b/4 me and sent packet 4 in about the same time has just the other day gotten packet 4 and their interview is [b]MAY 28th[/]

I mean to tell you that I was literally begging them to change our interview from July 11th to late May. WTF I ask you.
Jeraly
Omg that is so horrible - I don't understand why it would work out like that... That really sucks sad.gif I know I had a week's notice for my interview where some people had a month so there must be an element of luck of the draw but still... sad.gif

*hugs*

You set a new date yet?
*julez*
Wow, Thee Rak, that really sucks big time. It really makes you wonder at how they determine who gets to interview when. Mind boggling! Hang in there.

Thanks all.... nope no new date set yet. At this point all I know is our POE is San Francisco on 21-Sept and that means we need to be married by Christmas. It really screws everything up for us on the wedding front. It's a good thing I hadn't actually planned anything (remember that I'm a guy). I was going to do it in Michigan where my folks spend the summer but now they'll be in Florida (where they spend the winter). I wouldn't be able to get my sisters all to come down there and I'm sure none of my friends would make it so it's all a mess.

My thought at this point is to try by brothers house on Smith Mountain Lake Virginia. It's a rural area and they belong to a tight little church who I'm sure would put on a nice ceramony. He's got a huge house so the party could be there. The trick is going to be getting my folks to come and my sisters too. Then when we are back in Kansas City I can throw a big party for "friends".
Jeraly
It all depends on how you want to work it - we had our "wedding" in Feb so we are just going to have a legal thing when I get there smile.gif
CBR
Sheesh what a mess! I'm so sorry for you guys. So why is POE not until Sept now? Because of work? How disappointing (i'm sure that doesn't even begin to describe). That's really odd, but I noticed the same thing on the Montreal spreadsheet for interviews. There are many discrepancies like yours where 2 or 3 people send their p3 back at the same exact time and their interviews make no sense. Or one sends theirs back a week later but gets an earlier interview. The only thing I can think of is maybe each scheduler is scheduling on their own schedules (lol) or maybe they get a cancellation and give that date to the next lucky dog in line. We'll never know.

Best of luck to you both!
Rob & Jin
yes that sucks mad.gif

Well there are still 5 of us "july" filiers still waiting to take our interviews, what a happy little band we are whistling.gif

Its been quiet a wait for us all but it will be worth it once we have them here good.gif

Hang in there guys blink.gif
rae_and_scott
Thinking about how there are so few of us left is what depresses me. sad.gif But you are right, once it's over of course it'll have been worth it.

Are you getting excited about your interview? It's coming up soon! Are you going to China to be there?

Yes Sept because of my workload. I've got the Job 1 Launch of the 2009 F-150 Truck to keep me busy from now until late Aug when I leave for BKK.

This may actually work out for the best anyway 'cause if I'd have gone as planned (May 29 w/return on June 13) I'd have been VERY VERY BUSY (like now) while she sat at home, alone, with no friends or family here. I can just imagine how crazy she would have gone. I mean she doesn't even drive so I'll have to teach her then get a car and all so it'll be a while b/4 she's independantly moble and all.

TheeRak, I'm sorry for this huge hassle you had to deal with... but everything happens for a reason, and it sounds like this may work out better for the both of you. Waiting stinks, but once it's over, you'll be so happy. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you know that in just a few months you'll be together. smile.gif

Another fine example of "everything works out the way it does for a reason". That's going to be so nice when she finally gets here that you can spend more time with her. You're so right, that would have sucked for her to be alone so much in the beginning. She's gonna need you & want you around alot in the beginning until she at least gets familiar with the town etc... Plus it's just a much better way to start your marriage...TOGETHER. I don't know how the people who marry first & are separated while waiting on this process do it.

How long is your flight to China? Are there many stops along the way? That stinks that they don't let you in for the interview but at least you'll be there right before & after. Your flight home together is going to be surreal I bet.

Hey guys, long time no see... Been hectic over the past few weeks with both work and wedding plans occupying all my time.

IT IS OFFICIAL!!!!

Charry and I became husband and wife yesterday around 4:30 ish eastern time. The wedding took place in my grandparents back yard and was performed by a JoP that I have known for years, my high school history teacher LOL.

Currently waiting on the Marriage certificate to be registered at city hall before we send in the AOS.
