VISA in hand for us today too!!!! yayyy!

Peter said the interview went smoothly, but when I asked specifics he flaked and said stuff like "I don't remember". He was too tired to talk about it. I'll try to get more out of him so I can write some sort of a review. He did say that he was asked how we met, and why we're not going to live in England...then he flaked more...he's back at the dentist tomorrow. It's been a dental hell ordeal since his abcess...he had another gum surgery and had four teeth pulled. He's not been a happy chappy.

Well...all for now...I'm battoning down the hatches as we are having tornado-ey weather tonight in dallas...Good night all!

YAY!!!! Ohhh we have been waiting to hear from you!!! Julez has been going mad wanting to update the London list!! biggrin.gif So glad to hear it went ok!! Any ideas for POE yet?!

QUOTE(kunle @ Apr 4 2008, 03:33 AM) *
Nice to see a lot of July filers with their VISA IN HAND. I'm still dealing with "NOTICE OF INTENT TO DENY". CSC received my response to this NOID on Jan 9, and said I should received decision within 60 days but till now no approval yet other than the message that my case remains open until background check is complete. Just baffles me that I just got a security clearance but USCIS is wasting tax payers money to do background check or fbi name check again, doesnt make much sense. Seems like im caught up in the long wait of fbi name check.

Nice to see july filers again.

*hugs*

Sorry to hear you are still stuck in bureaucratic hell sad.gif (I forgot how to spell that laughing.gif ) It sounds as though they are just carrying out extended checks so I hope you hear some good news soon smile.gif star_smile.gif

Congrats Gordielover, that's awesome!!

kunle, my heart goes out to you. I can't even imagine. We had a long wait and are still waiting for an interview. At one point we had no idea what was going on, being in "extended review" so in a way I know what you're feeling. It's not a good feeling at all having no control over the situation & having to wait wait wait. All I can think of to say is hang in there and you'll get through this. Focus on your relationship as much as you can. And love will find a way!

Thanks CBR, did your "extended review" says background check or FBI name check? below is the statement from my last inquiry from USCIS-CRIS;

"The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact us by calling our customer service number provided below."

I sent you a PM about our case & the wording USCIS used. From what they said to you it sounds like they got a "hit" on your name in one of their databases and have to look into it manually. They always say 6 months as a standard reply. Hopefully it will be done much much sooner than that. Also, you never know when that 6 months started. When I had called the first time in December the lady at USCIS said my file was on the extended review shelf and that can take 6 months. THen she paused and said actually it looks like it's been there for quite a while and maybe it won't be that much longer. Since you're also a July filer maybe you're in the same situation. The only difference is we never had an intent to deny. I'm not sure what that's all about if it's just background checks they're doing on you. If you have a clean record, maybe they got a hit on your name but will find that it's not you. I don't get why they'd intend to deny right away though. Or is there something in your petition that they don't like?
Rob & Jin
Kunle, hope you get out of AP soon.

Congrats to the approved good.gif

Just 6 of us left waiting now whistling.gif
rae_and_scott
Hey Rob, I'm just curious, what are you looking at to get the numbers of who's left? Jeraly's spreadsheet, or info in the timelines, or what?

When do you expect you might get your interview? We are hoping for late May but it could be longer than that.

And yes, CBR, you are right, we are entitled to whine. wink.gif
Rob & Jin
yes the spreadsheet, umm...... interview hopefully May but who knows. unsure.gif
Jeraly
Haha - I don't know how accurate it is - I have gone through and nagged all the CSCers today but haven't gone through VSC yet wink.gif

Fingers crossed the rest of us July bunch will hear soon smile.gif
TinTin and Samby
Well, Here's One more! smile.gif

Hi All,

TinTin had her interview today at the US Embassy in Manila. We are happy to report that 1) document verification was complete at the time fo the interview, 2) Her K1 Visa was Approved and 3) the embassy approved our request for a visa pickup at the embassy, thereby bypassing the use of delbros's delivery services. kicking.gif

Warm Regards,
Samby & TinTin

Yay TinTin! Glad to hear that!

Kunle I hope whatever it is gets resolved very soon....beauracracy sounds alot like lunacy huh!

I hope everyone is doing well. We got one 'hail' of a storm last night....I've got to get back to 'nesting'...only 9 more days before my beloved is here with me! I've got to clean out a couple of more drawers for him. haha!

I sure hope we hear from Debz soon too.

Debz is doing ok - she still doesn't have the net so only gets on when she visits Nick's family which isn't often and when she gets on she doesn't get long... She asked for updates on people so I briefly updated her some and let her know I have been keeping on top of the spreadsheet if she wanted to check up in more detail smile.gif

She's been pretty hectic planning the wedding and has started panicking about AOS already as Nick still doesn't earn enough to make the poverty guidelines so they have to use the same co-sponsor... yes I have already told her that if it was accepted last time for K-1 then she should be fine laughing.gif

I want to thank everyone for your support and at the same time I want to congratulate everyone too! my process took 234 days... I don't know how we survived but we did it!

Today I officially bought the ticket for my fiance's arrival, our lifelong journey begins on June 10. I know what some of you are asking, why is the arrival so far away? well simple: I'm still in school right now (3 more weeks to go yay!) and I had bought a ticket to visit him in May. Either way I needed a vacation so we decided that he would wait for me to visit first and then he would come to the states. I'm so excited! in about two months I'll be a married woman!! we're doing the legal stuff first and then later in the summer we're doing a simple yet elegant ceremony on the beach with a nice reception afterwrds....I am sooo excited. For next year he'll be living with me while I'm still in school but our living arrangements are already taken care of. Thank God that everything has just fallen into place. It's amazing how in the end everything is just turning out right and it's all because of my faith in Him.

Jeraly I'm sooo happy that you are finally at the end of your journey, I've been rooting for you all along, I know you will do awesome at the interview!

God Bless and i wish the best for everyone.

Congrats on the interview date Jeraly- now just 4 of us , haha whistling.gif

To answer the question as why china takes so long- The DOS in their wisdom have just 1 little consulate in China doing all the immigrant visas from china, a country with a 1/4 of the worlds population. Also lets just say the USA has a "special" attitude towards the chinese.

Anyway we are fast, if you look at EKO1 they still dont even have their P-3 or file received by the consulate.

Lets not forget that there is only 1 country in the world the USA had a law banning immigration from ?

We will get here, just dont think we will be jumping into the beanbag thread that soon blink.gif

Quick question guys, When my fiance arrives to the US, and is in the line where they check his passport, does he have to go through the US citizens/residents line or the visitors to the US line? I tried looking at the different forums and found nothing, I'm hoping some of you with experience can tell me. Thanks a lot!

Hi. He'll need to go to the visitors line; the same one that he's always used before.

Gillian
rae_and_scott
Yeah it's only once you have a Green Card that you can go in the other line.

Thanks! smile.gif good to know wink.gif

Although apparently if you are with your OH I have heard you can go through either line - apparently it is pretty rare that they make you queue up at the other one...

Well once when going through customs in Canada I asked the guard and he said they will not let you go through together. You will in fact have to get in separate lines.
But maybe it depends on what country you're going through customs from? I'm really not sure.
Jeraly
Possibly - or maybe the POE...?

Might be best to check out some of the POE reviews biggrin.gif I am pretty certain I read somewhere that LAX let you both go through the permanent res part smile.gif

Yeah, maybe it does depend on the POE then. Of *course* knowing the US it couldn't be consistent or anything! mad.gif
Jeraly
I think many people have said to just pick whichever - worst they can do is make you go through the other one biggrin.gif
rae_and_scott
Well that's true but can be a bit of an issue if one line is super long (which I find is usually the case with the visitor's line). I'm sure you could also just ask an officer working there which line is right too. smile.gif

This is from my Congressman on my background check:

The USCIS, California Service Center replied to our inquiry with basically the same information you received on your inquiry. Following this, I cut and pasted the entire e-mail except without the e-mail address of our Congressional liaison. , when a security/name/background check is involved, we cannot and do not have any influence over the process. The FBI is in control of the security checks. Not even the US CIS has control. It is not possible to estimate how long the check will take to complete, however, the US CIS and the FBI have publicly pledged to make this process as short as possible. I do know that the moment your security check clears, you will be contacted with that good news and you'll find your petition will immediately progress from there. Until then, we wait. It is our hope the wait will not be long.

As soon as you get word that your security has cleared, please let me know and we'll work to ensure the visa goes as quickly as possible.

If you need to forward this to your fiancée please do so.

Best Wishes,

"Thank you for your inquiry.

The status is that the case has been delayed as the USCIS awaits the results of required security checks. The USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner while also ensuring public safety and national security. Though background checks for most applicants and petitioners are completed very quickly, a small percentage of cases have unresolved background check issues that temporarily delay adjudication of the application or petition. Although USCIS makes every effort to resolve such cases promptly, the agency cannot move forward until all outstanding issues have been resolved to our satisfaction. Unfortunately, this process can sometimes take years.

The background checks involve more than just the initial submission of biographical information or fingerprints and the initial response. If these checks and/or a review of the administrative record reveal an issue potentially impacting an applicant's eligibility for the requested immigration benefit, further inquiry is needed. The inquiry may include an additional interview and/or the need to contact another agency for updates or more comprehensive information. If it is determined that an outside agency possesses information relevant to the applicant's background, USCIS asks that agency to share any relevant information for consideration by USCIS in the adjudication. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS will adjudicate the application as expeditiously as possible.

We have checked into your constituent's case and have been assured that the agency is aware of your inquiry and is monitoring progress of the case. Background checks on this case are still pending. We cannot speculate about when the background checks will be completed. USCIS has determined that no documentation related to the case will be issued at this time.

USCIS realizes that your constituent may be frustrated by the progress of his or her case, but the agency must balance individual inconvenience against broader issues of public safety and national security. We hope that the recognition that your constituent's case has not been forgotten lessens any anxiety from the delay in the adjudication.

We hope the information provided is helpful. If we may be of further assistance in the future, please let us know."

Kunle, your congressional inquiry response is slightly different than mine although it basically says the same thing. I should post mine in here so we can see the differences...one of these days maybe if i can remember! You're going to get an email from CRIS one of these days out of the blue. It'll sneak up on you one of these days like mine did. I ran around the house jumping for joy, crying, laughing etc... It was such an outburst of emotions that were pent up for so long. I can't wait till that happens for you. In fact, I found out that my approval was THE day after they wrote that email to my congressman about how long the review can take and about national security blah blah blah
