except that a much larger proportion than usual went to the coffee grower tongue.gif
I'd rather encourage big businesses in doing the right thing; I even took a little 'how are we doing?' form, and filled it in, and wrote 'great to see Fairtrade being promoted! more please!' and posted it on my way home biggrin.gif

if I can help get Starbucks serving more Fairtrade, they can totally pwn my £ and then some tongue.gif

Yeah - I can't recall seeing fairtrade coffee in Starbucks when I've been in the US but then I hardly ever go to Starbucks so... wink.gif

Yay! We do rule!!! Thing is this thread will come to a natural close when we all move over to the US (or have our OHs move) anyway so then we can use our beanbag room even more to keep in touch about AoS and stuff biggrin.gif

Ok - just wanted to show my face... should go to bed now sad.gif

Actually, we are small we just talk more than the rest of the groups......
I'm more of the silent type in this thread. On that note...

APPROVED!!!!!

Charry got me real worried, I had not heard from her all night and she was supposed to call. So I called her.
She answers and says to call back in 10 mins, she was getting off a ship and it was realy noisy.
Course with the quality of the phone system in Phil it took me longer to get back to her, the call would not go through.

Finally, once I got her on the phone again, I got the good news.
She says the process was easy, I had prepared all her documents for her and mailed them to her so I knew there would not be a problem with paperwork.
I was more worried about the CO, the questions, and if our evidence was enough.
But she says he only asked 3 questions and then approved her.
When did we meet? How old was I? And how old was she?

Now we just need her to get the passport back so she can goto her CFO Seminar in Cebu.

The major hurdle has been leaped. it is smooth sailing from here.

Damn can't edit now...
Went to update my timeline, not sure if I should put a date in visa received now or when Charry actually has the visa in hand.
Ideas?

Congrats Marc! You guys must be thrilled!!!

The date you should use is the date she actually has the visa in hand.

Yep, here's some good news from Frankfurt! My visa was approved yesterday! The Consul just took my fingerprints and that was it! I'll stay in Germany until mid June to sort out some things and will be traveling to Washington on 06/18.

The most exciting part about the whole "interview" was when I was handed a booklet called
"Welcome to the United States- A Guide for New Immigrants" biggrin.gif

Can't wait to finally become Mrs Nieto ! luv.gif

I'll bet it's your American flag, giant foam "USA #1" finger, and yellow magnetic ribbon that every immigrant gets. (and dear lord you're going to be sick of seeing on the back of EVERY...SINGLE...TRUCK in Texas.). It might also include your official "USA Big Book of Songs." With memorable songs like: "USA!"

P went back to Germany yesterday sad.gif He'll get his police certs and send in his checklist and await his interview. He has to finish grad school and with any luck will be back here mid-July.

oh, if you haven't already, you MUST check out A Bit of Fry and Laurie... it's way old - like, twenty years or so - and so many people only know him from House (and get surprised he's actually British :? )

I have a few seasons of Hugh Laurie in Jeeves and Wooster, as well as Black Adder. I thinks he is hysterically funny!

Okay, so I have to admit to never actually watching the TV show, but I had NO CLUE that Hugh Laurie was House. Wow! I mostly know him from Black Adder. He's one of my favorites. Stephen Fry is awesome too. He defines "dry wit" in my book.

im getting so nervous / anxious for our interview!!!!

Thanks,

I had sent her to the embassy with March 29th as the date of trave in case they asked. Which was originally the plan. But now I'm moving into a new apartment on April 1st so I want to get some things moved in before she gets here. The living room and bedroom will need to be furnished once she gets here and she can help pick out the items, and the matress, something she has never done before. New plan is mid April depending on when she gets the Visa and the CFO Seminar (Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar at the Commission on Filipinos Overseas) she has to take.

It is a requirement of the Philippine gov't that she participate in this seminar before being authorized to leave the contry for immigration. One of the things that worries me is that one of the key points of this seminar involves spousal abuse in the US. I hope she doesn't get the wrong idea from this seminar. I know I'll never do it, but I hate the fact that apparently the issue is big enough in the States that a foreign country has to tell you about it before you immigrate.

How did you guys find out when NVC received your cases? Is it ok to call them everyday or do they document our calls? They probably can't if they don't have my file yet right? Again I see that Vermont is blowing California away in speed. Our case not received...Vermont filers approved after us...received already like 2 days after. Not one single step in this process is going to be smooth sailing for us, I can see that.

That's so cool that you're going to furniture shop with her. Great way to make her feel a part of things right away good.gif . It is really sad that they have to hear a spiel on spousal abuse before coming here. I hope it's more geared toward giving them info on what to do if something goes wrong and not a lecture like you're taking a big risk like ther'es so many abusive spouses here in the US. I have heard horror stories about men shopping for wives online and then using them as a free maid or some crap like that. And not going through with the rest of their immigration so that they're an illegal here and have no choice but to stay with the jerk.

Peter has been ill with a horrible Trigeminal Neuralgia attack....I feel so helpless from over here. I wish I could cuddle him up and take his pain away.....all these snuggly thoughts makes me wish I had a beanbag here too. Maybe I should buy one for our new place....it would remind me of my VJ friends (no...I'm not wishing I could snuggle with you guys though). Aren't we American's so sappy?????
