I used USPS to send my I-130 application with Register Mail option to one of the chicago lockbox. I used Register Mail option because I wanted confirmation back that they have received my package. I checked the status today on USPS.com to see if my packet has been delivered or not. and this is what I saw there:

Label/Receipt Number: <tracking number>
Status: Notice Left

We attempted to deliver your item at 9:34 AM on March 3, 2008 in CHICAGO, IL 60699 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Detailed Results:

Notice Left, March 03, 2008, 9:34 am, CHICAGO, IL 60699
Arrival at Unit, March 03, 2008, 9:24 am, CHICAGO, IL 60699

Does this mean there was no one there to receive my application? How is everyone sending their application to the lockbox in Chicago? regular mail or register mail???
I am really worried that they may have lost my application. Please advise me if others have been using Register Mail option to send their application and got back confirmation postcard (when I say confirmation, I don't mean NOA1) that their application was received.

Ignore that message, it gets posted very often here on VJ, it only means that the mail was picked up at the PO BOX before your package was delivered to the box. It will get picked up tomorrow on the next day.
brnidokiegurl
call the phone number on the receipt and use the automated tracking system thru the phone

Thanks YuAndDan and brnidokiegurl for your response. My blood presure went thru the roof when I saw the message on USPS.com. but I am little less stressed out now.

Thanks,

Your packet won't get lost. Just check the online tracking again later tonight or tomorrow. I have found that the automated phone response and online tracking say pretty much the same thing.
