I just want to share good news. Today I received my FL driving license for 1 year. My I-94 expired on Feb 23. Took the test on Feb 5, showed them I-797 (not approval!!!, just receiving NOA), passport with I-94, marriage license. They sent it away and told me to wait 30 days. I wasnt hoping coz their instructions says I need I-797 - approval of GC or EAD....well, I got it!!! Even without approval of EAD, AOS! And now finally Im my husbands wife having the same surname kicking.gif
Good luck for everyone with getting US driving license. Yes, its possible to get it!

Congratulations! biggrin.gif

I too was very excited and happy when I got that nice shiny new (well paper at first) Fl license in the mail. They had to of course verify my GC and when they did I got a license good for 10 years? I was expecting it to expire when my GC expires (later this year)!

Congratulations!!!

I was under the impression that as a UK citizen I could take my UK drivers Licence and/or International drivers licence into DMV with my SSN, passprt and visa and they would issue me with a licence?

Have I been misinformed or does it depend on which country you originate from?

Floridians,

Once you got your GC, how long is your DL valid for? My husband's DL is good for SIX years - not ten unsure.gif ...

Strange. Aidan says, above, that his is good for 10 years. My one-year license expires in June, so I'll let you know how long it's good for when I go to renew it..... this time with a GC. I was expecting, however, for it to be issued for only the amount of time remaining on my temp GC. unsure.gif

Oh, sorry. I missed this question. It all depends upon which State you reside in. Check the DMV site for the rules and regulations in your State.
