The checklist is what comes in Packet 3 from the embassy. It is a list of all necessary documents and forms that you must have prepared for your interview and bring with you.
You need to retrieve all the documentation and then return only the signed checklist stating that you are prepared with all documentation for the interview.
Hi Ales,
It is confusing for people as IR1/CR1 visas do not have a checklist - K visas do - IR1/CR1 visas (generally) do not.
You will not receive a checklist.
Here is the thing. A person who has applied for a K visa does not send their documents to NVC, they take them to the interview. Hence the 'checklist' of items they need to take with them to the interview.
Most consulates/embassies are now 'Appointment Posts' (yours is), which means NVC handles collecting the civil documents, fees and scheduling the interview - not to be confused with the K visa process. You will receive an interview letter which will tell you what you need to bring - normally 2 passport photos, your passport and medical.
You will also not receive a 'packet 3' or a 'packet 4' - which K visa persons also refer to.
As for the DS-230 - don't worry too much about it. The James version is not perfect and it doesn't have to be.
