I can't stand it!!!
I'm sitting here in my apt with the door open and I hear one of my neighbors popping their gum SO loud - it's driving me crazy. I'm going to shut the door.

By the way, I live on the SECOND street and their ACROSS the street.

Not only is it rude,it's annoying.

I do it without thinking usually. When I notice that I'm doing it, I'll spit it out because I know other people find it annoying. I'm not bothered by it, personally.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm a teacher and students are NOT allowed to chew gum. So when I hear it at school it's an act of outright defiance - since they're calling attention to the fact that they're breaking the rules. (I work at a really bad school btw).

But when you're popping your gum so loud that someone across the street and on the 2nd floor can hear it clearly....

I hate gum chewing. Period. But add the popping, and oh my, do I get upset!

Gum is nasty. It tricks your stomach into thinking it's gonna get some food, so it produces more acid then gives you ulcers.

On another subject, I think a guy chewing gum is hot. Dunno why.

I view most gum-chewers as cattle. They tend to have the same, brain-dead look in their eyes as they methodically, but mindlessly, masticate a wad of Bubblicious. Round them up and send them to the slaughterhouse, says I.

I chew gum but only the trident/ dentyne kind and I don't pop it...

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one...

oh my....how that makes me cringe!!! when i'm in the privacy of my own home, i'll make a bubble every 20 minutes maybe....but when i'm sitting on the subway and the girl sitting next to me is popping it like you can't imagine....oh my!!!!

It's very annoying and displays very bad manners. I even hate it when people chew their gum like a cow chewing grass. Tacky, tacky, tacky. Probably the same people who use their cell phone's while dining in nice restaurants.

I find people who chew their gum all loud and cow like (like smacking their lips with every chew) MUCH more annoying than people who pop it.
