I am new here and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Ray and I reside in Los Angeles and I am engaged to Arlene from San Fernando, La Union. We met online in November 2005 and have met in person 5 times since. I just mailed our I-129 last Saturday February 23 and today I already received notice in the mail that it was received February 26. That is only 5 days! Should I be excited? smile.gif

I have a question, in Arlene's passport she did not sign her full name Arlene Vargas she just signed A Vargas. Would that be a problem when she goes for her interview? If so how would you go about correcting it? Would you go to the DFA and ask for a new passport? Would they give you one just because you did not sign your full name in your passport?

I believe a person's signature depends on how he/she prefers it so I see no problem there. My own signature in the passport doesn't resemble closely to my own name and it is considered valid...

Philippines do not have the requirements we have here in the US.

I know in my US passport, I was instructed to sign my name in full. My wife saw it and flipped out coz she knows thats not how I usually sign documents. LOL

Nope its not a problem at all. My signature doesn't have a letter in it LOL but thats how it is and it is acceptable.

its not a big deal, dont worry...as long as she is consistent in signing her papers.

Welcome to VJ. good.gif The signature won't be a problem. Good luck with the petition. CSC runs hot and cold so there is no telling what they will do. Take a look at the immigration timelines link at the top fo the page, the stats may be helpful.

As long as that's her signature for so many years now, it will never be a problem. She should stick to that one especially now that she signed her passport that way.

It won't be a problem as long as she is consistent with all her documents and sign the same way (like in the passport, SSS and other Identifications that she have). I also don't sign/write my whole name just initials of my first and middle name then my whole surname.
