My fiance lives in punjab.. so we might book a flight from Amritsar to JFK but there will be a stop. It takes her 2 hrs to get to amritsar. I might have her family drive her to Delhi(6hrs) and then get a direct flight to JFK.

Any opinions?

Should i buy it online here or see what travel agents there charge...

so far I am looking at about 900 for the ticket?

Congratulations on getting the visa,

You are off season so the ticket should be cheaper around this time of the year. Check in India for Consolidator tickets. It's cheaper if you get the ticket from India and you can also get ONE WAY.

A couple of people have tried makemytrip.com, i think they use the same consolidation tickets.

I (USC) booked the ticket for hubby with makemytrip.com (travel agents in India were giving higher rates to him). Check Orbitz.com also, and check with travel agents in India, then take the best offer! good.gif

I agree with all of the above, tried them all at different times and had good luck - travelguru.com has been lucky for friends...

If this is her first trip to the US then I would go with the direct(non-stop) flight to JFK...Make sure you give her a calling card # or something if she is travelling alone so she can call you once she is here..
