I know. thankfully we have set small goals to concentrate on.. ie.. his medical, getting additional documents... my boys have to leave for the summer soon and i'll edits coming up again LOL
Our only stress is the police certificate...we have the old one (and it even says on the UK Embassy website that it should be okay)...we're taking Jeraly's advice to do a screen shot of it at the interview to show them if they give us a hard time about it...
I can imagine. That whole police certificate thing is so dumb! My fingers are crossed for you two.

hi Robyn, Kris' interview is just a day before mine.. I wish and pray we will both have favorable results
I'm quiet missing some of our CSC brothers and sisters... it is probably harder for them to be checking our thread now that some are getting their visa already while they are still waiting... my heart really breaks for them

... and i am refraining from posting on the january csc thread now coz i have my signature stating my medical and interview sched getting nearer already. There are times when I just want to remove the signature but it is also my guide as to how many days are left...
I know they are happy for all those who have their visa and they are happy for all those who have medical and interview coming but still, I also know that they are very much human, and whether they want to or not, this discrepancy between VSC & CSC is probably starting to bite.
I really really hope and pray that CSC will start kicking some January approvals soon... and with that is also the prayer that VSC finish off the last 7 January VSC filers.
My heart goes to all that remain waiting whether with VSC or CSC.

I completely agree...I also have been staying a distance from the CSC thread as not to cause anyone any pain or frustration. My case has been the poster child for timely processing, and I know it would just make me more infuriated at the system the more I saw the discrepencies...so I am just praying for them from a distance....

Yes, good luck!
NVC hasn't received and assigned a case number to our petition yet. As if I really expectd it to be quick.
Started my new job today. Just paperwork and orientation stuff so far, but it's all good. It's the first time in forever that I spent the day sitting at work, and not standing on my feet for eight hours. And I didn't come home smelling like espresso!
And it's only one day until he comes to visit us!!! A little in-person time is definitely what we both need to get us through till the end. Even though I will miss him terribly when he leaves, things will be much more bearable for sure.

Apr 25 2008, 05:25 AM
Well, I have good news and bad news....
The good news is Darren was approved at the interview. The bad news is that the approval is PENDING until we send them a new police certificate.
When we sent in our petition in January, we checked the embassy website for the particulars of what we would need at the interview. On the website, it said that we had to get a police certificate, which we did. Only they neglected to say which police certificate to get. When we received our NOA2 so quickly, we were relieved that we already started the ball rolling on gathering documents for the interview.
But then, we started to see some concerns come up on the UK forum about a new police certificate. It was quite expensive (70 pounds), but there was some confusion to which police report use. So we looked on the website (and checked there often) and it said (and STILL says, I might add) that if your interview was scheduled before April 15th (which we were) that if the police certificate was less than six months old (which it was) and your interview occurred before August 15th, everything would be okay. Well, it wasn't...
We will have to pay an additional 70 pounds (about 135 dollars) and wait. Time was never the motivating factor; he wasn't able to come right over. It's just the feeling that the U.S. government seems to be squeezing every last penny out of us that they can.
But, at the end of the day, we are approved, even if we have to wait a little longer, and I am ecstatic at that!!!
Thanks you for all the well-wishes!!!

Congratulations!
I thought the £70 fee was only if you wished to receive it within 2 days? Everything else I've seen has said it's £35 and you'll receive it within 10 days. If he doesn't need to come over immediately, is that the better option?
They really should've been clearer on the requirements; I'm sure many people have been placed in the same situation as you and it's not fair!

congrats Dawn and Darren, I know that stuff about the police certificate, people were saying the old one would be ok but i went for the new one because I wasnt confident about that.
You have been approved and thats the main thing, it depends how quickly you want the certificate I paid £35 and had it in 7 days.
Congrats again and at least the interview is over.

the new police report is 35 pounds but if you want it in 2-3 days it 70 pounds.... we did the 35 pounds one and it came in 5 days so I'm not sure if its really worth paying double just to get it an extra 2 days faster since you're not traveling right away.

Congrats on the approval! I'm sorry about the police cert part - at least it's something minor that can be quickly addressed. Can you tell us about the actual interview?? What kind of questions they asked, etc. Liam is getting a bit nervous - he thinks they're going to quiz him on my 4 siblings names and dates of birth or something. haha.

We'll be submitting packet 3 on Monday and requesting our interview date during my visit to Australia.

I bet the ACPO lobbied the US embassy to force on them the usage of the new (MORE EXPENSIVE) certificate. They saw there was lots of requests so why not, how to turn an easy buck! I see no reason why the old one is not good enough, other than to squeeze you out of more $$... That's truly deplorable: I can't believe the real cost of printing an access request is 30 quid. Can't take longer than 1 minute, including printing time, and posting. Perhaps someone at the US embassy at the end of the year gets some free tickets to cricket matches or something...

I thought that feeling is only with the US embassy here in the Philippines.. they have increased visa application and medical fee, increased visa delivery fee, added new fees like document verification and added a call center for setting up appointment and visa related inquiries and follow ups which cost $.98 per minute (for locals) or an $18 pin (for people calling outside the Philippines). The doc verification which they advise to pay way in advance is still causing people to wait for visa even up to 2 months (even if they paid a month before interview)... and the visa call center would have been great if it is only for setting up interview appointment schedule, those extra dollars would have been worth it since you could choose your interview and medical dates... but when it becomes a must to call and pay a hefty amount for even tiny visa related inquiry, it becomes a burden on the pocket. Sorry for venting a little.
BIG BIG CONGRATS Dawn and Darren.

You are one more step closer to each other now.

QUOTE(R&I @ Apr 26 2008, 08:14 PM)

Hello everyone!
I thiiiiiiiink it is our turn to get the jackpot. And it is our turn today to announce about ourrrrrrrrr APPROVAL.
Can you imagine it finally happened? Only yesterday we thought of waiting for 2-3 more days and then planned to write to the senator.
It happened due to our love, our wish to be together and of course due to all your support dbears, Shape, psiprez, ZeeNusah, azezohome, PolarStar, Mark&Lada and many others. Special thanks to GAY and AINGY!!!!!!! You warmed my heart when I was lost and depressed with such a long awaiting period! Thank you my friends! Thank you all!
To those who are still waiting for NOA2s:
We all know what you feel. Absolutely know. We are here to support and advise.
Let you be awarded for your patience as soon as it only possible!!!!!!!!
Randy and Rina
I am SOOO happy for you and Randy! Finally! Hope the rest of the process become faster and smoother for you.
Wishing you the best and God's continued blessing always.

Congrats Randy & Rina!!! I know how happy and relieved you must be!!!
Only six more Januarys to go. Hurry up VSC!!!
And I leave for the airport in about an hour. You have no idea how anxious I am at the posiibility of him being turned away for his visit. That's the one bad thing about VJ. If not for reading about bad POE experiences others have had, it would never had occured to us that he could be sent back just for visiting. Then again, it's the chance you take ANY time you visit a foreign country, even with a valid visa. I know it will go fine.

Karen, i'm sure he'll be fine! We're one of those POE horror stories but we pushed the limits!

It would be foolish to even think you'd risk anything at this stage of the process. Have a wonderful time together!!! After two weeks, your petition will be at the USEM and you'll be well on your way to having him here for good!

So we are back home from the Newark Airport. He had no problem at all getting in!
His plane arrived at the domestic terminal, so they were very casual in customs & immigration (unlike at JFK).
IO: "Purpose of your visit?"
G: "Visiting a friend."
IO: "Does the friend happen to live at xxx address?"
G: "Yes.
IO: "Does your friend happen to be female?" (smiling)
G: "Yes."
IO: "Is she more than just a friend?" (smiling bigger)
G: "Yes, she's my fiancee."
IO: "Then have a good visit!" (gives three month stamp)
I think the IO was trying to show that he knew what the deal really was, and was setting Gerry up to give the answers he needed to hear. Thank you, very nice Immigration Officer!!!

Thank you Rachel, I keep planning future things with him and then realize until we get the interview date they wont happen and I have no idea when it all will happen.

It's out of my control and I don't like that! So hopefully this week!! This is worse than waiting for our noa2 I think! I keep having him call ahh!!
