QUOTE(Alex & Rachel @ Apr 1 2008, 05:36 PM) *
I ordered three copies of my birth certificate months and months ago!

I also applied for a provisional driving license because I mean to book some lessons before I leave, but also because I need proof of where I live for the police certificate (I also ordered a bank statement from my bank with my address on for this purpose).

I won't get the police certificate until I receive my NoA2, because it is only valid for six months.

I'd love to visit, too - but like you said, it just isn't worth it money-wise.

The birth certificate copies in France is only valid for 3 or 6 months so the ones I got before sending I-129F won't be good anymore. Unless the embassy says it doesn't matter to them.
But I'll probably order new ones just in case. Last time I got it in less than a week anyway.

I've only started to gather some proofs of the on-going relationship. nothing done about official documents so far.

Exactly 3 months today! CSC has been so slow lately! I hope they'll catch up soon....
Alex & Rachel
Me too.

That's strange about the birth certificates only being valid for 3-6 months. Ours are valid for life over here.

I received an e-mail back from Alex's mother. She reckons there will be 40-50 guests on her end! wacko.gif

Didn't you say small and cheap wedding? And shouldn't it be on YOUR end and on ALEX's end?!
Alex & Rachel
Well...her family is Alex's too! But she's drawing up the guest list for her side of the family.

She says that is why she wants to do a pot luck wedding, so that everyone can be fed at little cost to ourselves. I'm a bit concerned about how they'll squeeze 50-70 people into their house, though!

She's sent me an e-mail full of questions (what type of cake? Music? Flowers?) and I almost want to send one back saying 'I don't care!' tongue.gif
Cecile and Bryan
I meant I would think that Alex would do that guest list for his family, and you would do yours. Bryan seems willing to choose who is going to come from his family.
Maybe "I really have no idea right now, but I'm going to think of it" would be better than "I don't care" wink.gif
JeroenAndMichelle
Wah.. im going crazy... I'm dropping on Igor's list and the timeline here said november 28 a while ago, then 23 and now 20 o_O wahhh april fools?

lol.. has been funny... now approve that darn k1! #$*@*$

hahahaha j/k wink.gif
Cecile and Bryan
Well my timeline IS dropping for real, I'm back on June 16th instead of the 14th mad.gif
We Want Approvals CSC!!!
JeroenAndMichelle
Hmm yeah, thats the funny part...

the timeline says July 8, I started at 16.
the stuffie on this page: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/ went from nov 28 to nov 23 and now on nov 20
on Igor's list i went from 170 to 169 to 169 to 170

Someone is working backwards :S

We had a July approval which was way out of the current processing speed - that'll drop us back temporarily. I cruise Igor's list about 5 times a day and I hate it when I go backwards on the list - simply due to people joining who have already filed. I know it doesn't mean anything for my own processing (they've already filed...get it Blake?) but I still feel like someone's cutting into the line. mad.gif

Then there's the people who join VJ when they get their NOA2 - which really messes up my math - I see an approval, but I stay in the same place in Igor's listing - again, not fair! no0pb.gif

The thing that I have to remind myself is that approvals usually can occur for anyone around #70 on the list (the magic number as i've been told), so I'm really not as bad off as I think. Right???? laughing.gif

Yes - you're right! Argh! If only I had a firm wedding date. smile.gif

Alex is fairly flexible re. wedding guests - I'm sure he'll decide who to invite amongst his friends/co-workers but I think his mother will be organising the family invites. Her side of the family is rather large and if you invite one you have to invite them all. But that's okay because I've met his mother's family and they are all awesome and friendly people. Not a single person amongst them who might be the embarrassing/drunk/badly dressed guest. We're very lucky!

Blake - NO you are not badly off! Positive thinking, people! I won't allow any negativity in here wink.gif

Thanks for keeping me in line. I haven't had a good rant in a long time, so I'll let you know when I do. The sun is shining today which always puts me in a good mood, so the rant will have to wait.
Alex & Rachel
Haha! Rants are fine - I'd be a big, big hypocrite to say otherwise - but as your fellow filers we have the right afterwards to headbonk.gif and tell you not to worry. I'm feeling unnaturally cheerful and positive today. When that changes and I'm all moody again, you, of course, have the right to do the same to me. smile.gif

Yes let's all stay positive! it's still too early to rant anyway. If we start now, time will seem to go too slow and we'll continue to rant, and that's a never ending story tongue.gif

Ooops, I've already had a couple - I think the first 30 days are the hardest (says the guy who filed 60 days ago) I'm sure that when I get to day 120 I'll rethink that one as well. I'm quite happily oblivious to time's passing right now, but I'll give you fair warning when that's going to change.

Cheers to you girl! I admire your self control. If it was me..... well, i think I will just bite my tongue right now whistling.gif

She is probably thinking she is doing you a great favor by taking over the planning since she feels you can't do it because you are still in the UK and of course that is probably a blessing since you will have lesser things to worry... but i do hope you will be able to tell her what you really want to happen on your wedding and just how many people you want there. After all, it is still your wedding... and i also hope your FMIL will not get carried away with planning and then end up doing everything the exact way she wants it. unsure.gif

I'm not too worried about her doing it her way - well, maybe apart from the pot-luck. Maybe I should give her e-mail address to my mother and the two of them can duke it out instead. laughing.gif

I am worried that she won't believe me when I say what I truly want. She always thinks I am just trying to be polite when I say that I have no preference or want something cheap.

I would suggest clearing this up now, and not after Milly (M-I-L) gets too used to the idea of running the show. Train 'em early I always say.

Don't be amazed. Be prepared coz it is not impossible at all!

Have you tried visualization? It's like visualizing something you want and then acting as if it is already in your hands or believing with all your heart and mind that it is indeed yours already? No what ifs, No buts, just plain believing it in your heart without a single ounce of doubt.... if you can do that then surely what you believe in will come to be. rose.gif

Besides, it is not as if you will be dreaming of getting Olga's visa tomorrow or next week (that will be fantasy already)... June or July is very very very possible with the current approval coming out of CSC. Well, approvals might have slowed down a little but it will pick up again VERY SOON. And I'm SUPER POSITIVE that there will be January CSC approval before April ends.

I'm summoning the NOA2 fairy to cast its magic on all of you and that some of you may get NOA2 this month and all of you will have NOA2 just before May ends (that includes the remaining January VSC filers).

I'm holding all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Good morning, Blake!

I really wish we could fix a wedding date. Fielding questions from people is tiresome! I don't like to give misinformation but thanks to the visa process I've already changed my plans a half dozen times.

Not indecisive, optomistic is probably the better term. The fact is we really don't know what date things will happen. I get asked all the time when Olga and I will have our wedding, my explaination starts out ok and then turns to mumbling about processing and interview timelines, CSC and the entire immigration process. By the time I see the glazed look coming from their eyeballs I stop myself and just say, "I don't know." I think I've got it narrowed down to August/September - but then again, that's just a guess as well. So we're all in the same boat as you are - besides it's a woman's perogative to be able to change her mind without any recrimination. yes.gif

One more thing that would save me time in my obsession with Igor's list - If you could post that link in your signature then I wouldn't have to search out Mox every time I want to look. I always know where to find you laughing.gif

Of course I could learn to do it myself, but I have only so many brain cells and they seem to be occupied with other tasks.

Yes - I think everyone must receive that glazed look from their friends and acquaintances at least once through the visa process.

I just don't want to become one of those people who, every time you talk to them, has changed their life ambition; the type of people who sometimes you just want to say, 'make up your mind already!' to. Alex and I have many ideas but few of them are going to come to fruition. We've said we may be married in October or February. We may stay in San Jose or move to Oregon or Washington. I may try and get an architectural job or I may continue to pursue administrative/PA work. But you are right - I am certainly not alone, and I really am grateful to all of you for listening to me. You guys are fabulous!

It's funny how those that don't have to live Your life, seem to always have advice as to how You should live it. There is no reason for you to lock yourself into a singular track at this point in your life. One thing I find interesting here is how many people make decisions out of convenience (first job, first house, first marrige (ahem)) and are then suprised to find themselves stilted and unhappy later on. I can honestly say there is more value in taking the time to explore many options than to settle for simply pragmatic reasons. I have lived many different places in the US - Florida, California, Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, New Mexico and there are advantages and disadvantages to each. There is a combination of career and location that is perfect for you - but until you get here and try them out, how are you to know?

As for the Igor link - thanks a ton, you've increased my productivity tremendously.

My parents were determined to keep me from having chocolate. Nuh uh. Apparently when I was a toddler I saw a Kitkat on a plate at a café and I KNEW. I had to have it and they couldn't persuade me otherwise. Since then my parents have determined that I have a sixth sense for sniffing out any chocolate in the vicinity.

Haha! I don't blame you - but I do feel sorry for your daughter. wink.gif

LMAO see I was opposite....I pretty much did not care for chocolate or really any candy until after my daughter was born almost 6 years ago! Since then I do LOVE me some chocolate! She is kinda the same as I was as a child soooo the Easter Bunny knew that Mommy would most likely want the bunny more than my daughter would whistling.gif heh heh....

Gosh I wish a ton more CSC people would get approved this week and next!!! Want to see those numbers on the stats page rise to the 20's or even better yet 40's a week! Don't they know how crazy this makes us all waiting? haha....

I have some days where it all seems to be going so fast then others when I think about the last time I was able to put my face in my mans neck and just snuggle in etc....and that is when it gets so hard! Miss him soooo much.
