Thanks for the birthday wishes. It's been fantastic. My dad took my sister and me to an amazing Indian restaurant where I had a most delicious curry, and when the waiters heard it was my birthday they bought out two free starters, a free dessert and free spirits for all - mmm! (Yes; we left a very generous tip!)

Yes! Usually here you can expect a small dessert with a candle stuck in - but they went far and beyond!

One of the starters...oh goodness. It was a ball of crispy potato with a curried spinach centre, a very crispy coconut shell and a delicious coconut sauce poured over...simply amazing.

My dad has done some searching and has found a flight to San Francisco for just £243 ($449). Hopefully booking that tomorrow!

On another note (regarding the cost of flights) why is it that UK-to-US round trip is so much cheaper than US-to-UK round trip? I mean it's exactly the same journey, but if it begins in the UK it's much, much cheaper than if the journey originates stateside.

Example:

I went to Northwest's website (nwa.com) and searched for a London - St Louis round trip in March. With the flight originating in London, the cost was US$560 - that's less than £300, which is a bargain. I then entered exactly the same trip, on exactly the same dates, only this time with the flight originating in St Louis. The price? $1166!!! Twice as much!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!?????

Amsterdam - Honolulu = aprox 1800 usd

The same trip, same month and even with same days (but also other days), with same carried but now from Honolulu to Amsterdam: 1500-1600 usd...

So, we're getting married tomorrow!!!!!! I'm getting all excited about it (of course) I feel less stressed than last week though. About the marriage certificate, I don't know tbh... I know we will ask for some certified copies as we will be able to get those before the actual marriage certificate (it takes 3 to 4 months to get the actual certificate in Hawaii), they only cost about 10 bucks or something for the first one and i believe every other will be 4 bucks so yah, we best ask for those and get AOS filed before I'll be out of status.

I'll probably ask them what they can give us and take whatever they say. I'm pretty sure we can get the certificate the same day here though.

It is VERY cheap, but it is also on a site that I had never heard of before! There are some great bargains out there but you really need to know where to look. On the normal 'cheap' site that I have used before the cheapest flight I found was £615 or $1,132.


So many reasons! Also it's worth noting that in my experience it has usually been cheaper to fly US > UK than UK > US. Maybe the recent recession is having an effect? They want to encourage people to spend money and take holidays, as this is one area people have been cutting back in?

Aaah, the £243 flight, once *I* rang, and despite my dad having rung earlier to double-check, was apparently due to a tax error.

BUT I now have a direct flight booked, from Heathrow to San Francisco, with BA, for £355, which is still an excellent deal, and I think I'd prefer a direct flight anyway!

Yep, £355 direct with BA is pretty damn good. Unfortunately, you can't fly direct to St Louis (AA used to do it, but discontinued the service) so I have to change whatever.

Btw, I put my bit of bargain info on the UK forum and................nada!!!!!! No responses at all! This is for real!! Three of my friends have already booked Easter in New York for £160-a-head. I honestly can't believe the apathy! I've checked on the airline's website (NorthWest in my case) and there it is, CONFIRMED! I guess some peeps think it's too good to be true??

Happy Wedding Day Cecil!!! Levi is in Vancouver today for his interview! Its been rocky since he got in last night but everything should go fine at the interview. He may not be wearing the suit that he planned on as the airline unloaded his luggage at the previous stop so he's not sure he'll even have a change of clothes before then!

It better, my stopover is only 1.5 hours haha (and if it is anything like the reviews and/or like the things I experienced, then I will still have an hour left to spare lol)

I think around 12:15... He's not having a good time there at all! He didn't care for the hotel(no tv in the room and the shower isn't working so had to take a bath). His flights in were late(coming from Manitoba). The airline lost his luggage. Hope the interview goes better than the rest has!

Me well I had complete panic attack last night and decided I hate my dress on me! UGHHHHHHH so back to the drawing board on that one with just a couple months (hopefully) to get one! I have one picked out on Davids Bridal that isactually a bridesmaid dress in white so hope to go there this weekend and try on ..... sigh...

Gareth is headed to his medical as I type this! He woke with a horrid ear ache so he was not a happy camper about that. Will call to check on him soon.

OK I admit that it does feel different to know that I am his wife and he is my husband. The ring on my finger isn't the same anymore and this morning when he left I was going to tell him something like "have a good day, my dear husband" but I was too asleep to say such a long sentence And when he says "it's none of your business" (jokingly) I can say "now I'm your wife, everything you do is my business!"

I wrote a long text in French about our wedding day, to send to my family. It has lots of details. I will probably translate it so you can read it here, but it's so long I don't want to do it right now.
However I do have pictures! here . We did not take pics at the courthouse as we went there alone. it was OUR intimate moment (even though we were in front of 50 strangers)

I still haven't taken pictures of the wedding dress (that I will only wear next year for the ceremony) but I'll try to take some soon. I want to show it to Bryan soon.

Bryan's grandmother looks fantastic, too - amazing skin. (Sorry - couldn't help observing!)

However I have one concern. They never asked me if I wanted to take his name (which I want to do) or keep mine. Bryan says that since they didn't ask they'll just do it like they do with 99% of people and will give me his name. I hope he is right!
