Hi everyone! smile.gif

Haven't been here lately 'cause it was just too much to handle. But I'm back and with good news. We got a touch on June 25 and we just received the NOA2 via the mail. I'm so ecstatic I can hardly contain myself!!!! dancin5hr.gif dancin5hr.gif laughing.gif

Since I haven't been here for a while, I don't know how many of you got your NOA2s but I'm wishing a speedy approval to all who are still waiting! smile.gif

Ooh every day I am getting closer to seeing that approval I know it (and I pray and hope this is true!!!) we are just so nervous as Gareth is really biding his time in the UK at this point since his job just took him back temporarily and well it has been 6 months now! He was saying he doubts they want to keep him on another 6 months! And he of course needs money to pay for his internet and to give his mother a little rent money etc so he needs something until he can come here! He has applied for other jobs to tide him over but not much in his village sadly.

I just pray the CSC Gods hear my plea and approve us this month!!!! PLEASE CSC come ON!

My thoughts are with you and Gareth, Steph.. I hope you guys will get that approval soon!

As for work, I hope his employer will keep him some longer... my own employer doesn't know yet that I am about to leave the country.. I have seen it happen before that people wanted to leave here and that those people all the sudden had to go asap (because of company secrets lol) instead of keeping the official notice time.. they get my notice barely in time, giving them as less opportunity to do the same with me.

Yeah no real company secrets where he works LOL. The thing is we were pretty much planning on him staying when he attempted to come over in December which is why he left his job and they gave him farewell party and everything! Well then he did not get through customs here and sent back thus leaving him in need of a job again! So yeah he was lucky they took him back at all that is for sure! But yeah things are getting antsy on his part for sure!

Hey all, just checking in from here in Costa Rica. Greivin and I have been traveling around saying all his goodbye's this week. We have a couple days left and a few more family members to see. Overall, he is doing fine, and is just so excited to head to the states, he doesn't seem too phased by the goodbye's. (I have teared up more times than him!)

I loved all the talk of dresses! I ordered mine but the only pictures I have are on my cell phone, and I don't know how to get those onto my computer. If I figure it out, I will post them. star_smile.gif I went with a white dress with a light green sash. (Greivin and I are both plant/biology people so green is our main wedding color.)

CONGRATS SHES!!!! star_smile.gif I have been waiting to read your good news, and at last, you have it!

Sunny, I continue to think of you and send you big hugs! I SOOOOOOO hope you hear something soon. Let's hope that congressman can work some magic!

Good Luck, Cecile, or should I just wish you patience?

OK EVERYONE, With all the talk of dresses over the last few days I've got a question to ask (I can't believe I'm doing this....) Which do you prefer - a white dress or an ivory dress. Olga has brown hair and green eyes, and she keeps going between the two. I suggested we put it up for a vote......

Yikes, I never thought that would be a question I'd ever ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Cecile, Pam, Rachel, Sunny, dbears, Aliona, Courtney, Chantal help me.....

laughing.gif .. somehow you made me remember my Ricky. He went out yesterday and booked our wedding site.

Now about the color, between white and ivory, I would prefer ivory and maybe this link could also help out: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...10082110AAV4bVe

maybe she should try one and ivory dress and also a white dress to see what would look better on her skintone and color of hair.

I found it cute you're concerned about her dress!! I like that! and don't worry it doesn't make you any less of a man! wink.gif
According to the link of Dbears, and Olga's picture, it seems that ivory would go better for me. She has really brown hair, but her skin is really light.
If a dress is white, and her hair dark brown, her skin will look "phased out" ; instead of, if her dress is ivory, it won't be such big different tons of colors between her skin and her dress!
I hope I made myself clear. wacko.gif I just woke up, so....
By the way, I went pick up my dress yesterday, and it look great!!! It fits me perfectly!! biggrin.gif now the trick is to do not take any weight between now and the beginning of September! tongue.gif

So...
I got brown hair and green eyes... smile.gif and my choice for my dress is ivory. So I will say ivory. By the way I got a really pale skin too... so, white looks too white.
Hope that the vote will help.

You know what is hard for me about the wait?

The wedding store where I order my dress is on my way to work. Every day I saw the store. Every day I would like to go in and do the final try...
And talking about dresses I was looking about my dress pictures. Makes me cry.

I want my noa2!!!!

Aw! Soon, I hope very soon, Miss Yoko.

Blake - I agree with the other ladies here; ivory would probably be better.

Cecile - hope the medical wasn't too long and arduous!

Alex has zero fashion sense...he'd still say I'd look great if I wore a burlap sack. This has its advantages, of course, in that I don't always have to be dressed up nicely for him. The disadvantages are that when I am dressed up, or have made an effort to look nice, he doesn't notice! laughing.gif I'm not going to get feedback from him as to what to wear to the wedding - he's just hoping I don't choose anything dressy so that he doesn't have to wear formal clothes. I think he's probably hoping to get to wear a Hawaiian shirt or t-shirt. wink.gif

Maybe not for every day wear, but it might look a little odd if all of your guests are dressed up nicely. laughing.gif

My mother was even worrying about finding a nice enough hat to wear. Hats are a must in the UK - in fact weddings in general are more formal here. The groom and any ushers will wear a morning suit with top hat:

(This is the case for every wedding I've been to - even the smaller, more informal ones)

and the women, at least the older, married women, will all wear hats. I had to convince her that a hat really wasn't going to be necessary for a wedding in California!

Yet another beginning of the month worry about money and accommodation. wacko.gif

Flight prices are already rising and I have no doubt they'll continue to do so what with the price of petrol these days.

I'm still planning on looking after my friend's cat this summer and staying in her empty house for six weeks. After that...well, I was sorely tempted to ring up my parents and ask if I could live with them for a month or two. Heh - they'd then have five of their six children back at home! tongue.gif (Well, four, since my brother will be returning to university in September). Chance to spend more time with my family, see old friends...and hopefully save on food/rent costs.

The only problem is I wouldn't be guaranteed work. However, if I could find temping work that'd probably pay more than my current job, so maybe it's worth taking the risk.

I don't know...this is all a moot point anyway as I haven't even spoken to my parents yet and they may not necessarily relish the idea of having another child back at home...

Blake- I think either would look great! But then again I am not good at making my mind up hence the reason I have two dresses to wear and one is white and one is ivory tongue.gif Win-Win!

Cecile and Bryan
Blake, don't always trust everyone who says that if she has a light skin she can't wear white. I hesitated a lot too, because my skin is white (my mother says my legs look like the legs of a dead body, hopefully the rest of my body isn't as white!) I ended up trying both white and ivory dresses and both colors were nice. White didn't make me look like a ghost. My skin is white, my hair is dark. I chose white because the dress I ended up choosing was only in white, but I'm sure ivory would have looked good too.
Did she find a dress that she liked? i'd say she needs to try both colors if she can, to see if really there is one that she can't wear.

The medical went smoothly. MissYoko, I chose Dr Slattery, He was nice, he checked my vaccines, checked my size (and apparently I'm 2 centimeters taller than when I last checked!!!!!!!!! I don't know if he messed up, but starting of now, this is my new size tongue.gif), my weight, blood pressure, eyesight, etc. Then I went three streets further to do the blood test, and on my way back to the doctor's office, I went to do the x-ray. So far, everything is good, but I'll have to go back there tonight (or later) to get the results of the blood test, and he will give me everything for the embassy. it took an hour and 15 minutes.
Then I went shopping tongue.gif

yeah the flight prices rising suck :S Even though I have enough money to afford a ticket in the middle of the summer vacation, I would prefer to save it for something else...
Going back to your parents' could be a good idea. Right now, I feel like July is my "farewell" month. I am trying to spend time with all the people I won't see anymore. I definitely look forward the two weeks or so that I will spend with my family. So, if they want you to come back, and if you think you could find temp work easily, I'd tell you to do it.

Good to know everything went well! I didn't know that you have to go back to the doctor's office to get everything back.
Well, I guess it is okay because I took an early appointment so I could go shopping after too!! tongue.gif

I agree on the flight prices during summer time!! mad.gif
It is just crazy to see the different prices depending if you're leaving in August or September. My wedding is on early september, so I will fly out on August anyways.

Rachel, I think you should just ask them. They know into what situation you're into, and they are your parents, so I think they would be happy to help you out on your last months in England. star_smile.gif

You have to go back because it takes some time to get the blood results. They told me that I could come back whenever I wanted, even just before my interview at the embassy. But since I took my day off, and since I prefer to have everything prepared in advance, I will go tonight.

Yes, all in the same area. I had to walk less than 10 minutes to go to the lab for the bloodtest.
Well, 1m54 is my new size! kicking.gif

Aah, I'm a giant - 172.2 cm here, or 5'7 if you prefer!

Cecile, glad to hear the medical went okay!

And thanks for the feedback - I think you and Pam are right, and that it may the best thing to do (well, until I've spent a week there and then you'll hear me complaining about my allergies and my messy sister laughing.gif ), so I think I'm going to be phoning my mother this evening.

My whole family's pretty poor at the moment, actually! (Part of that is my fault, as my dad's saving every penny he can for flights for everyone to the wedding). My sister just graduated university and left the house she was sharing last week. She was hoping to get back her deposit as she and a couple of the other girls she was sharing with had made an effort to leave it clean and tidy. Unfortunately one of her male housemates decided that on the last day he was going to smash windows and generally leave a mess everywhere for 'fun'. rolleyes.gif Well, there went my sister's and all her other housemates' deposit. I hope that somehow she manages to get money back off him but I have a feeling it's going to be hard to track him down...

Ok! thanks. I think I will do that too, because like you I prefer having everything organized in advance too.
