it is exactly one year today since Ricky proposed and we got engaged and until now i have not made up my mind on the wedding gown design . It is good that you guys have the dress already. i really need to have a design this week if i am to have it done here before i leave.

It depend on the design, if there will be lots of details--embroidery and beads-- then it might take 2months to 3months... i am looking for a design with the least embroidery or beads designs. I have alredy checked more than half of the gown designs in theknots and have saved some pics already.. well i have been saving and deleting gown designs for almost a year now ...

the first half of our engagement year was spent planning for a wedding in the philippines.. then january we decided to just go for K1 so it has been a complete shift of plan. Although it will still be outdoors, the different climate is a very huge consideration.

Yes, I am waiting to use the visa until October/November - so I am not in a huge hurry. I'd prefer an interview asap just to get it out of the way, but I have no real reason other than that for wanting it soon.

Parents, etc., have nixed the whole two celebrations idea. Anyway, I would not have known when to celebrate my marriage; on our actual wedding day, or on the day we chose to celebrate with family? In the long run having the one ceremony will be for the best; although I'm a little sad that I couldn't do it on a day with more meaning (we're having it on a Saturday for everyone else's convenience!).

I haven't a clue as to what I'm going to wear either. I think having the wedding in the cabana spells 'casual'. I'm a bit scared of going for white; afraid I'll look gargantuan. I'm thinking maybe blue, since blue's a traditional/lucky colour to wear to a wedding. I'd like something with long sleeves. At the moment though this is all a moot point as I can't afford a dress.

Oh, and Cecile - I'd definitely want to wear my dress to the actual wedding! I wouldn't be able to wait to wear it either.

yeah... right now I'm thinking that I want to wear it at the courthouse, then we go somewhere else (maybe a park? a tearoom? (someone was talking about that in another thread)) with our witnesses, still wearing our wedding outfits, and then back home to change into a more casual dress and party with everybody.

Heh heh joining ya with the slow day at work I got the cutest dress off of Target for the reception then I am just putting a bright apple red sash around it to dress it up a bit more then red shoes My gown is white and red and then reception dress is cream and red that matches the red on my actual gown I am sooo excited to wear it all!!!! And oh yeah to marry my soul mate too

I saw a nice dress two months ago in a store in Paris and I believe it would be nice to wear it to the reception, but I'm not sure I remember where I saw it! I'll have to go to hunt for it!
oh yeah, of course, the only reason we're talking about dresses and the best way to have a perfect wedding is only because we are excited to marry our soulmates and we want them to find their brides beautiful. It's all about them, it's not because we are shallow girls who like fashion! (well actually I usually hate fashion, so this is totally true! )

You said you're scared of going for white, have you actually tried on a white dress (it doesn't have to be a wedding gown if you don't want to)? that way you would know what you would look like with white. What type of blue would you like? something dark or light-colored?

I went and tried on a couple of wedding dresses with a friend back in February and it wasn't really me; I felt fat and ugly. Didn't help that they were strapless dresses; my shoulders/upper arms are the worst part of my body.

White's not actually too bad as I have a reasonably dark skin tone (although aforementioned upper arms/shoulders are pretty pasty ), it's just not a very slimming colour.

It'd probably have to be dark blue...hmm, blue's not exactly my colour either. Maybe I'll look for a dark red or purple dress - although neither of those colours are very traditional for a wedding dress! I was thinking of having some blue in there, though - I know my littlest sister could wear a blue dress as she has big blue eyes, and I love blue flowers.

Purple or dark red sounds like a good color. It may not be very traditional, but it's your wedding so you're supposed to do it your way (of course your families may frown, so you'd better let them know in advance that you don't do the traditional white gown)

Hehe, I am battling my mother on that front. To her credit she is being very good about the whole affair, especially considering that as a Catholic she had the full church ceremony with a white dress with a huge veil and train. I did explain how white wasn't always a traditional colour, and that it does not traditionally symbolise purity, but money, so she understands that a colour dress wouldn't be inappropriate.

My fiance is an artist, and an aspiring animated movie/video game designer. He told me that the only real "Dream" he has for his wedding is that he designs his wife's dress, so that's what I'm going to let him do. I'm very anxious to see what he has in mind, but.. Actually, Olga finally decided on her dress and I'm ordering it tomorrow, so this was perhaps an appropriate twist in the road after all. She's going with ivory rather than white, which I think will look wonderful on her. With as much as I have on my plate, I'm certainly glad that I don't have any aspirations for designing wedding wear. We should know our interview date tomorrow when the embassy reopens - I've got the card at the ready, and hopefully will be able to get some plane tickets figured out. So things are moving along again, thank goodness.

for my part, for the courthouse wedding i bought a pretty dress, but not like a wedding dress (and not expensive) , at night we will have a party with our friends and a small wedding cake... and for the big ceremony i will wear the real wedding dress ; )

We are almost to 170 days since we filed UGHHHHHHH So hard not to get down and discouraged when that 180 day mark is right around the corner and still no answer except the fact we may be stuck in security checks.... :/

got some question about the I-134? my fiance (the petitioner) told me that he heard someone says that he has to submit the I-134 to the NVC..

is that correct? cus what ive learned is that..i, ( the beneficiary) will be the one who will present that to the CO during my interview at the USEM.

From all the research I've done...I'm pretty sure you bring the i-134 to the interview...

You have to bring it to the interview, it is written on the checklist of packet 3 of stuff which you'll have to take to the interview

lol, I received a call from the consulate earlier this morning. They were wondering if I made an error or if I was still waiting for some of the things mentioned in the checklist (which I still am, btw) coz I've only sent the requested forms back to the consulate and not the checklist yet (which was basically what the checklist asked me to do).

Turns out people usually wait until they have everything and then send the checklist in together with the other forms but the way I did was actually the requested method, which was also ok with them.

I think it was cool they called me, it was a really nice lady (Dutch speaking btw) and it shows to me that they're on top of it.. it kinda makes me feel more confident about the whole thing hehe

Haven't been here lately 'cause it was just too much to handle. But I'm back and with good news. We got a touch on June 25 and we just received the NOA2 via the mail. I'm so ecstatic I can hardly contain myself!!!!

Since I haven't been here for a while, I don't know how many of you got your NOA2s but I'm wishing a speedy approval to all who are still waiting!
